Fidelia (pseudonym)
Fidelia was a favoured female pseudonym among writers in English in the 18th century.'' The Feminist Companion to Literature in English. Women Writers from the Middle Ages to the Present'', Virginia Blain, Patricia Clements and Isobel Grundy, eds (London, Batsford, 1990), p. 369. It was derived from the Latin ''fidelitas'', meaning faithfulness. Usage Hester Chapone adopted Fidelia as her protagonist's pseudonym in "The Story of Fidelia" (1753–1754), in Nos 77–79 of the English newspaper '' The Adventurer''. Mary Ann Radcliffe did likewise in a short piece of sentimental fiction.Published in ''The Female Advocate: or an Attempt to Recover the Rights of Women from Male Usurpation'' (1799). See Catherine Packham: ''Eighteenth-Century Vitalism: Bodies, Culture, Politics'' (Basingstoke, UK: Palgrave Macmillan, 2012). Among the writers who used Fidelia as an author's pseudonym for their own work were the Englishwomen Mary Astell (1666–1731) and Jane Barker (1652–1732), and t ... Megachilidae
Megachilidae is a cosmopolitan family of mostly solitary bees. Both that their pollen-carrying structure (called a ''scopa'') is restricted to the ventral surface of the abdomen (rather than mostly or exclusively on the hind legs as in other bee families), and their typically elongated labrum is characteristic of this family. C. D. Michener (2007) ''The Bees of the World'', 2nd Edition, pg. 122, Johns Hopkins University Press. Megachilid genera are most commonly known as mason bees and leafcutter bees, reflecting the materials from which they build their nest cells (soil or leaves, respectively); a few collect plant or animal hairs and fibers, and are called carder bees, while others use plant resins in nest construction and are correspondingly called resin bees. All species feed on nectar and pollen, but a few are kleptoparasites (informally called "cuckoo bees"), feeding on pollen collected by other megachilid bees. Parasitic species do not possess scopae. The motion of Meg ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Scorzoneroides
''Scorzoneroides'' or hawkbits is a genus of plants of the tribe Cichorieae within the family Asteraceae. ''Scorzoneroides'' used to be included in the genus ''Leontodon''. Recent molecular studies revealed that ''Leontodon'' in the older, broader sense is an unnatural adhesion of two separate groupings. Therefore, the former subgenus ''Oporinia'' of the genus ''Leontodon'' had to be resurrected as a separate genus. Secondary metabolites In some members of the genus ''Scorzoneroides'', germacranolides and costus lactone-type guaianolides were detected. The genus is a rich source of hieracin-type and lactucin-type guaianolides. Phenolics found in flowering heads of ''Scorzoneroides'' taxa include luteolin type flavonoids and caffeoyl quinic acid derivatives such as chlorogenic acid and 3,5- dicaffeoylquinic acid. Moreover, ''Scorzoneroides'' are source species of caffeoyl tartaric acid derivatives caffeoyl tartaric acid and cichoric acid Chicoric acid (also known as cich ...
