Fflam
''Y Fflam'' ('the flame') was a Welsh-language literary journal published between 1946 and 1952 providing a platform for young Welsh writers. It included poetry, artworks, short fiction, and reviews. Its political viewpoint was strongly radical nationalism. It was edited by Euros Bowen, Pennar Davies, and J. Gwyn Griffiths,''Y Fflam'', Cyfrol 1, Rhif 1, Y Nadolig 1946. and its contributors included D. Tecwyn Lloyd, Gareth Alban Davies, Bobi Jones, and R. S. Thomas. Gwasg Y Fflam, Bala, was a small publisher set up to produce ''Y Fflam''. Euros Bowen
Euros Bowen (12 September 1904 – 2 April 1988) was a Welsh language poet and priest. Born in Treorchy, and a brother of the poet Geraint Bowen, he was educated at the Presbyterian College, Carmarthen, and later at the University of Wales (initially at University College, Aberystwyth before transferring to University College, Swansea), Mansfield College, Oxford and St Catherine's College, Oxford. Although initially he intended to become a Nonconformist minister, he converted to Anglicanism as a student, and was ordained as a priest of the Church in Wales, serving 1934-38 as curate of Wrexham, then as rector of Llanuwchllyn with Llangywer, on the shore of Lake Bala in Merionethshire, from which parishes he retired in 1973. He spent the remainder of his life in Wrexham. Euros Bowen began writing poetry in earnest in 1947, during the heavy winter which left him snowbound in his rectory. Welsh ( or ) is a Celtic language of the Brittonic subgroup that is native to the Welsh people. Welsh is spoken natively in Wales, by some in England, and in Y Wladfa (the Welsh colony in Chubut Province, Argentina). Bala ( cy, Y Bala) is a town and community in Gwynedd, Wales. Formerly an urban district, Bala lies in the historic county of Merionethshire, at the north end of Bala Lake ( cy, Llyn Tegid). Bobi Jones
Robert Maynard Jones (20 May 1929 – 22 November 2017), generally known as Bobi Jones, was a Welsh Christian academic and one of the most prolific writers in the history of the Welsh language. A versatile master of poetry, fictional prose and criticism, he was born in Cardiff in 1929, educated at the University of Wales, Cardiff (now Cardiff University) and University College Dublin. Jones held the chair in Welsh language at Aberystwyth from 1980 until his retirement. He died on 22 November 2017.
