Michel Wieviorka (born 23 August 1946, Paris) is a French sociologist, noted for his work on violence, terrorism, racism, social movements and the theory of social change. He was the 16th president of International Sociological Association (2006-2010). Biography Michel Wieviorka is the son of a Polish Jewish family of Holocaust survivors. His siblings are psychiatrist Sylvie Wieviorka, historian Annette Wieviorka, and historian Olivier Wieviorka. Michel Castex (born 1943) is a French journalist and essayist. He is editor-in-chief at Agence France-Presse (AFP). Career As former president of AFP's editorial society, Michel Castex covered many international positions throughout his career. He directed the general information service and the AFP Audio service. Alain Ménargues (born 1947) is a French journalist, and former director of Radio France Internationale (RFI). Biography He was a correspondent for Radio France from 1982 to 1995, based in Cairo and Beirut. He is currently a freelance journalist and writer based in Saudi Arabia since 2010. Jean Ferniot (10 October 1918 – 21 July 2012) was a French journalist and novelist. He won the Prix Interallié in 1961. Early life Ferniot was born on 10 October 1918 in Paris, France. He grew up in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. He became an orphan at the age of eight, when his mother died. He was raised as a Roman Catholic, and he considered becoming a priest as a young man. Ferniot was educated at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris. He briefly served in World War II, and he was subsequently awarded the Croix de Guerre. Career Ferniot was a journalist. Jean-Marie Pontaut (born 26 February 1947 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) is a French investigative journalist, working for the daily ''L'Express'', after a start and a return trip to ''Le Point''. Biography Pontaut often worked in collaboration with Jacques Derogy. Yves Courrière, real name Gérard Bon (12 October 1935 – 8 May 2012) was a French writer, biographer and journalist. Biography As a child Courrière read Albert Londres, Oscar Wilde and became passionate about adventure stories. As a journalist, in 1957 he joined the editorial staff of Radio-Luxembourg and participated in Armand Jammot's ''10 Millions d'auditeurs'', first radio magazine of the post-war period. He was then sent to report in 1958 to follow the voyages of General de Gaulle to Africa, and went to countries affected by armed conflicts, civil wars or revolutions, notably in India, the Middle East, and Algeria. He covered the Algerian war and obtained the Albert Londres Prize in 1966 for his articles on Latin America.
