Ferroviário Atlético Clube, commonly referred to as Ferroviário, is a Brazilian professional club based in Fortaleza, Ceará founded on 9 May 1933. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, the third tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Cearense, the top flight of the Ceará state football league. The Estádio Presidente Vargas, nicknamed ''PV'', is a multi-purpose stadium located in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. It is currently used mostly for association football and American football matches and is the home stadium of América Football Club (CE), Fortaleza, Ferroviário Atlético Clube and Associação Esportiva Tiradentes. Alessandro Pinheiro Martins (1983 – December 6, 2005), known as just Alessandro, was a Brazilian football (soccer) player. He was born in São Luís, Maranhão. He played as a defensive midfielder for Ferroviário, of Fortaleza, Ceará since 2004. He has also played for Santos, alongside Robinho, URT, Mamoré, Campinense, and Boa Viagem. He died on December 6, 2005, of a heart attack, after a physical indisposition followed by a faint, during a training at Vila Olímpica Elzir Cabral. The 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition started on 21 April and ended on 4 August 2018. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2017 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C (ASA, Macaé, Mogi Mirim and Moto Club). Ferroviário, Imperatriz, São José and Treze qualified for the semi-finals and were promoted to the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. Ferroviário won the title after defeating Treze in the final.
