Ferrovienord
Ferrovienord (prior to 2006, Ferrovie Nord Milano Esercizio) is an Italian transport company managing the network of regional railway concessions owned by the group in northern Italy. It is a subsidiary of Ferrovie Nord Milano. History The company was founded in 1985, as part of the transformation of Ferrovie Nord Milano SpA (FNM), a holding company. Its original name was ''Ferrovie Nord Milano Esercizio'' (FNME) and its objects were the management and maintenance of the FMN rail network and transport services on the network. In 1987, the FNM, together with the Province of Brescia and the Società Nazionale Ferrovie e Tramvie (SNFT), formed the ''Consorzio Brescia Nord'' (English: ''Consortium of Brescia North''), the task of which was to take over the SNFT's concession for the Brescia–Iseo–Edolo railway. History The line was opened by the FNM on 1 June 1898 between Saronno and Grandate; the last part, from Grandate to Como Lago, had already been opened on 24 September 1885 as part of the demolished Como–Varese railway. Milan Suburban Railway Service
The Milan S Lines constitute the commuter rail system serving the metropolitan area of Milan, Italy. The system comprises 11 lines serving 124 stations, for a total length of 403 km. There are 415 trains per day with a daily ridership of about 230,000. The core of the system is the Passante, an underground railway running through the city approximately from the north-west to the south-east. Several lines share this track, making the service in the city centre comparable to a metro line. The service timetable is based on a clock-face scheduling. Although operated by different companies, the Milan Metro and the suburban rail service have integrated tickets. Network Lines in darker background run through the Milan Passante railway. Lines which share same tracks for the majority of the route are generally identified by similar colors. Milan–Saronno Railway
Milan–Saronno railway is a railway line in Lombardy, Italy. History The line was opened by the FMSME (later: Ferrovie Nord Milano) on 25 March 1879. The line was completely revamped during the 90's of the 20th century, building four tracks and new metro-type stations. The line is fully integrated in the Milan suburban railway network, with two standard services with Central Milan and the Milan passerby railway, while regional services with Novara, Malpensa, Varese and Como run directly between Milan and Saronno. Milan–Asso Railway
The Milan–Asso railway is a regional railway, railway line with standard track gauge which links Milan to Canzo crossing for Erba, Lombardy, Erba and other towns in Brianza. The most northern terminal is the station of Canzo-Asso, which is located in Canzo's territory but is commonly known as Asso in the short form. That, because there is another station on the line called Canzo station and Canzo-Asso is next to Asso's boundary and serves this commune too. The management of the railway and of the station is performed by FERROVIENORD, FerrovieNord S.p.A., a society of the FNM group, which will hold authority until March 17, 2016, thanks to renewed concessions with the Decreto Dirigenziale del Ministero dei Trasporti e della Navigazione n. 3239/2000. Novara
Novara (, Novarese: ) is the capital city of the province of Novara in the Piedmont region in northwest Italy, to the west of Milan.
