Peggy Ferro
Margaret Frances "Peggy" Ferro (March 19, 1949 – November 4, 1998) was an American healthcare activist and nurse's aide. Her efforts led to laws requiring the use safety syringes in hospitals and other medical settings. Early life Ferro was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised on Staten Island. Career Ferro worked in hospitals in San Francisco in the early 1980s, and fought to open an AIDS ward in one hospital. She was active in the Hospital and Institutional Workers Union. She was a nurse's aide in 1990, when she received a needlestick injury while clearing a table in an emergency room. She learned two months later that she was HIV-positive. She worked for changes in the law to require hospitals to use safety needles to prevent similar injuries in others. Tiziano Ferro (; born 21 February 1980) is an Italian singer, songwriter, producer and author. He broke through in 2001 with his international hit single "Perdono" and has remained commercially successful since then, in several countries. Scipione del Ferro (6 February 1465 – 5 November 1526) was an Italian mathematician who first discovered a method to solve the depressed cubic equation. Life Scipione del Ferro was born in Bologna, in northern Italy, to Floriano and Filippa Ferro. His father, Floriano, worked in the paper industry, which owed its existence to the invention of the press in the 1450s and which probably allowed Scipione to access various works during the early stages of his life. He married and had a daughter, who was named Filippa after his mother. He likely studied at the University of Bologna, where he was appointed a lecturer there in Arithmetic and Geometry in 1496. Dr. Rubén Remigio Ferro (born 1960) is the first Afro-Cuban president ( chief justice) of the People's Supreme Court of Cuba. Dr. Ferro was a judge and lawyer in the province of Pinar del Río, and a provincial judge in the 1980-1990s. Robert Ferro
Robert Ferro (October 21, 1941 – July 11, 1988) was an American novelist whose semi-autobiographical fiction explored the uneasy integration of homosexuality and traditional American upper middle class values. Biography He was born in Cranford, New Jersey and graduated from Cranford High School. He went to college at Rutgers University and received a Master's Degree from the University of Iowa. In late 1965 Ferro met Andrew Holleran at the Iowa Writer's Workshop. He later lectured at Adelphi University. He was a member of The Violet Quill. He died of AIDS a few months after his partner, Michael Grumley, in 1988 at his father's home in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, age 46. Grumley and Ferro are buried together under the Ferro-Grumley memorial in Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, New York. Rita Ferro (born 1955) is a Portuguese writer, journalist, playwright and teacher. Early life Rita Maria Roquette de Quadros Ferro Ochôa was born on 26 February 1955 in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon, the daughter of writer and philosopher and Paulina Roquette Ferro. Her paternal grandmother was the writer Fernanda de Castro, and her paternal grandfather was António Ferro a writer, journalist, and politician who was associated with the repressive '' Estado Novo'' regime in the mid-20th Century. Ferro studied design, specializing in marketing. Rita Ferro (born 1953) is a Portuguese diplomat who has been Portugal's ambassador in Tunisia, Luxembourg and Morocco. At the beginning of 2020 she was appointed to be the ambassador to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. Career Maria Rita da França Sousa Ferro Levy Gomes was born on 4 August 1953. She has a degree in philosophy from the University of Lisbon. After graduating she taught philosophy at a high school before applying to join Portugal's Diplomatic Service in 1978. Ridolfo Capo Ferro da Cagli (Ridolfo Capoferro, Rodulphus Capoferrus) was an Italian fencing master in the city of Siena, best known for his rapier fencing treatise published in 1610. He seems to have been born in the town of Cagli in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino, but was active as a fencing master in Siena, Tuscany. Little else is known about his life, though the dedication to Federico Ubaldo della Roevere, the young son of Duke Francesco Maria II della Roevere, may indicate that he was associated with the court at Urbino in some capacity. Pablo Ferro (January 15, 1935 – November 16, 2018) was a Cuban-American graphic designer, film titles designer, and founder of Pablo Ferro Films. Childhood Born in Antilla, Oriente Province, Cuba, he was raised on a remote farm before emigrating to New York with his family as a teenager. Education Ferro taught himself animation from a book by Preston Blair. In the mid-1950s he began freelancing in the New York animation industry for Academy Pictures and Elektra Studios. He found his first solid job with a company that made commercials. It was while working there that he met and befriended former Disney animator Bill Tytla, who became a mentor.
