Ferrari FXX
The Ferrari FXX is a high-performance track-only developmental prototype built by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. The FXX is based on the street-legal flagship Enzo Ferrari. Production of the FXX began in 2005. Overview The FXX uses some technology demonstrated on the Enzo Ferrari and combines it with new developments from Ferrari and its suppliers. However, the car is only a part of the overall FXX program. Customers pay GB£2 million, but are only allowed to drive the car on special track days which are approved by Ferrari. After they drive the car, the owners are entitled to be debriefed by Ferrari on the car's performance. Ferrari's sister company Maserati, has developed a similar car, the MC12 Versione Corsa for this purpose with the only difference being that the owners can keep the car in their custody. Ferrari F140 Engine
The F140 engine family is a series of 65° DOHC V12 petrol engines produced by Ferrari since 2002, and used in both Ferrari and Maserati cars. This engine was derived from the Ferrari/Maserati V8. In the Enzo Ferrari, it set the record for the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in a road car. The 5998.8 cc engine, designed for the Enzo, is known within Ferrari as the ''Tipo F140B'', whereas the very similar ''Tipo F140C'' engine displaces 5998.8 cc and was designed for the 599 as the most powerful series-production Ferrari engine, a trend that has continued with the F12 and 812. Enzo Ferrari (automobile)
The Enzo Ferrari (Type F140) is a mid-engine sports car manufactured by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari and named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari. It was developed in 2002 using Formula One technology, such as a carbon-fibre body, F1-style automated-shift manual transmission, and carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite disc brakes, as well as technologies not allowed in F1, such as active aerodynamics. The Enzo Ferrari generates substantial amounts of downforce through its front underbody flaps, small adjustable rear spoiler and rear diffuser, which work in conjunction to produce 3,363 newtons (756 lbf) of downforce at and 7,602 newtons (1,709 lbf) of downforce at , before decreasing to 5,738 N (1,290 lbf) at top speed. Lamborghini Essenza SCV12
The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 is a track-only sports car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini under their Squadra Corse racing division. Introduced on 29 July 2020, it is the most powerful and the last purely naturally-aspirated car built by the brand. Specifications The Essenza SCV12 uses the same 6.5-litre V12 engine as the Aventador SVJ, tuned to the same specifications, but the engine has been turned 180-degrees to allow the gearbox to be mounted at the rear. The engine has a power output of achieved by a ram air induction system, making it the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine made by the company. A multi-valve engine has better breathing and may be able to operate at higher revolutions per minute (RPM) than a two-valve engine, delivering more power. A V12 engine is a twelve-cylinder piston engine where two banks of six cylinders are arranged in a V configuration around a common crankshaft. V12 engines are more common than V10 engines. However, they are less common than V8 engines. The first V12 engine was built in 1904 for use in racing boats. Due to the balanced nature of the engine and the smooth delivery of power, V12 engines were found in early luxury automobiles, boats, aircraft, and tanks. In automotive engineering, a longitudinal engine is an internal combustion engine in which the crankshaft is oriented along the long axis of the vehicle, front to back. Use This type of motor is usually used for rear-wheel drive cars, except for some Audi and SAAB models equipped with longitudinal engines in front wheel drive. In front-wheel drive cars a transverse engine is usually used. Trucks often have longitudinal engines with rear-wheel drive. For motorcycles, the use of a particular type depends on the drive: in case of a chain or belt drive a transverse engine is usually used, and with shaft drives a longitudinal engine. Slick Tire
A racing slick or slick tyre is a type of tyre that has a smooth tread used mostly in auto racing. The first production slick tyre was developed by M&H Tires in the early 1950s for use in drag racing. By eliminating any grooves cut into the tread, such tyres provide the largest possible contact patch to the road, and maximize dry traction for any given tyre dimension; see Performance. Slick tyres are used on race tracks and in road racing, where acceleration, steering and braking require maximum traction from each wheel.
