Fernleigh Track
The Fernleigh Track is a multi-use rail trail near Belmont in New South Wales. The track was constructed in the way of the former Belmont railway line. The project is a joint venture between Newcastle City Council and City of Lake Macquarie. The track extends from Adamstown to Belmont over an approximate distance of . The former railway closed in December 1991. The first section between Adamstown and Burwood Road opened in 2003. Construction has continued in stages with the final section between Jewells and Belmont completed in March 2011. The abandoned Belmont railway line was a coal haulage and passenger rail line from Adamstown to Belmont. In 1880 a rail line was built to Redhead with the line being extended to Belmont in 1916. Adamstown Railway Station, New South Wales
Adamstown railway station is located on the Main Northern railway line, Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the southern Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle suburb of Adamstown, New South Wales, Adamstown, and was opened on 15 August 1887. As part of the electrification of the line in the early 1980s, new station buildings were built, the western relief line and Platform 3 removed, and the 1939 built signal box on Platform 1 that used to control movements to the Belmont line decommissioned on 4 December 1983. Until December 1991, the Belmont railway line, New South Wales, Belmont line diverged to the south-east of the station.
