Fernando Martín (businessman)
Fernando Martín Álvarez (born 30 May 1947, in Trigueros del Valle near Valladolid) is a Spanish Businessperson, businessman who was the unofficial List of Real Madrid CF presidents, President of Real Madrid, replacing Florentino Pérez who resigned on 27 February 2006, until he unexpectedly himself resigned on 26 April of the same year. Álvarez was a member of the Real Madrid CF, Real Madrid board of directors under Pérez. He has an MS degree in Chemistry, which he obtained from the University of Valladolid. Álvarez was a politician at a local level in the Christian Democratic Party which later amalgamated with the main conservative Popular Party (Spain), Popular Party. In 1983, he came to Madrid to work in property and worked his way up the ladder. In 1991, he set out on his own and founded Martinsa. Fernando Martín Espina (March 25, 1962 – December 3, 1989) was a Spanish professional basketball player who was considered to be one of the best Spanish basketball players ever. Martín was 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall, and he played primarily at the center and power forward positions. He was considered a talented all-around athlete. He was a five-time swimming champion in Spain, as well as being a highly ranked athlete in the sports of handball, table tennis and judo. Martín wore the number 10 jersey, which Real Madrid retired after his death. He was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players, in 1991. In 2007, he was enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame. Fernando Martín García is a Puerto Rican politician and former senator. He was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1989 to 1993, and then from 2000 to 2004. Early years and studies Fernando Martín García finished his elementary and high school at the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola in San Juan. He then studied at the University of Puerto Rico receiving his bachelor's degree with a major in history in 1969. He then completed his master's degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1974. Since 1975, Martín García has worked as a professor of administrative law and ethics responsibility at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
