Fernanda Nissen
Petra Gregorine Fernanda Nissen (née Thomesen; 15 August 1862 – 3 April 1920) was a Norwegian journalist, literary critic, theatre critic, politician and feminist pioneer. Early and personal life Fernanda Thomesen was born in Sannidal, as the daughter of ship owner and consul Thomes Thomesen and Bertha Marthine Olea Debes. She was a niece of Ole Thomesen. She was married to newspaper editor and politician Lars Holst from 1882 to 1895, and to physician Oscar Egede Nissen from 1895 to 1911. Through her sister Sophie, she was sister-in-law of painter and illustrator Erik Werenskiold, and an aunt of Werner and Dagfin Werenskiold. Career Nissen worked several years as a teacher, and later journalist. She was journalist for ''Dagbladet'' in the 1880s, and literary critic and theatre critic for the newspaper ''Social-Demokraten'' from 1892 to 1918. Thomes Thomesen
Thomes Thomesen (1816–1887) was a Norwegian merchant and politician. He was a merchant, ship-owner and shipbuilder in the town of Kragerø. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from the city in 1862, and served one term. He was the brother of jurist and politician Ole Thomesen. He was married to Marthine Olea Debes (1825–1876). Through his daughter Fernanda Nissen he was a father-in-law of Lars Holst from 1882; they divorced after Thomes Thomesen's death. Ole Thomesen
Ole Thomesen (12 November 1817 – 8 October 1905) was a Norwegian jurist and politician for the Liberal Party. A member of the Norwegian Parliament for five terms, he became known as a radical and liberal politician. He spent his professional career as a jurist working in various parts of Eastern Norway. Personal life He was born in Kragerø as the son of merchant Claus Thomesen and his wife Inger Pedersen. His older brother Thomes Thomesen was a merchant and politician. Through him Ole Thomesen was an uncle of feminist, journalist and politician Fernanda Nissen. Another niece, painter Sophie Marie Stoltenberg Thomesen, married painter Erik Werenskiold. Sannidal
Sannidal is a former municipality which is now located in the municipality of Kragerø in Telemark county, Norway. History Sannidal is situated at the end of the Kil fjord. For this reason it was one of the earliest settlements in the area, being an important link between the sea and the land. The village of Kil was important for both exports and imports since the boat was the main means of transport at the time. Exports of timber dating from 1600s-1700s gave the area a good income and made Kil the first commercial center for Sannidal and surrounding country. The parish of ''Sandøkedal'', as it was formerly known was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Skåtøy was separated from Sannidal January 1, 1882. Hulda Garborg
Hulda Garborg (née Bergersen, 22 February 1862 – 5 November 1934) was a Norwegian writer, novelist, playwright, poet, folk dancer, and theatre instructor. She was married to Arne Garborg, and is today perhaps best known for kindling interest in the bunad tradition. Personal life Karen Hulda Bergersen was born on the farm Såstad in Stange, Hedmark, to the lawyer Christian Frederik Bergersen (1829–1873) and his wife Marie Petrine Olsen (1835–1888). She had two elder sisters, Martha and Sophie. Her parents divorced when Hulda was two years old, and she moved to Hamar with her mother. Torshov
Torshov is a neighborhood north of Grünerløkka and Lilleborg in the borough Sagene in Oslo, Norway. Oslo Tramway (''Trikken i Oslo'') provides connections with lines running between Majorstuen and Kjelsås. Vogts gate serves as the main street of the neighborhood. Along Vogts gate are several coffee shops, restaurants and cafes. The Torshov public school was built in 1878. Torshov was separated from Sagene as a separate congregation in 1930. The local sports club is Skeid Fotball. Torshov Church Torshov church (''Torshov kirke'') was consecrated in 1958. The church is located in Torshov kirkepark, between Åsengata and Nordkappgata. The building was built of stone and wood with copper plates, and has 400 seats. Sagene is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. The area became part of the city of Oslo (then Christiania) in 1859. The name Sagene itself is the plural of the Norwegian word for "saw", reflecting all the old industrial mechanical saws powered by the river Akerselva in this area in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Area The borough of Sagene includes the neighborhoods of Sagene, Bjølsen, Iladalen (Ila), Sandaker, Åsen, and Torshov.
