Fernanda Contreras Gómez (born October 8, 1997) is a Mexican tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 139 by the WTA, achieved on 3 October 2022, and a doubles ranking of world No. 110, achieved on 6 March 2023. She played collegiately for Vanderbilt University. College career As a junior at Vanderbilt, Contreras won the USTA/ ITA All-American Intercollegiate Championship to become Vanderbilt's first Riviera/ITA Singles Tournament Champion on 8 October 2017. She defeated Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov in the championship match. Contreras finished the season with a 44–10 record, setting the program record for most victories in a season, and was named singles and doubles All-American. Francisco Contreras (tennis)
Francisco Contreras Serrano (16 June 1934 – 12 July 2022), also known as Pancho Contreras, was a Mexican tennis player. He both played for and captained the Mexico Davis Cup team. Biography Born in Mexico City in 1934, Contreras completed his studies in California, attending Modesto Junior College. Along with his Modesto teammate Joaquín Reyes, he went on to play college tennis for the University of Southern California and the pair combined to win the 1955 NCAA doubles championships. He won the NCAA doubles championship again in 1956, this time partnering Peruvian player Alex Olmedo. Contreras reached the round of 16 at both the 1956 US National Championships and the 1957 French Championships. At the 1958 Wimbledon Championships he partnered with Rosie Reyes to make the semi-finals of the mixed doubles. Kimberly Birrell (born 29 April 1998) is an Australian tennis player. She has won two singles titles and one doubles title on the ITF Circuit. Birrell reached her best singles ranking of world No. 154 on 6 May 2019. Personal life Birrell was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 29 April 1998 to Australian parents. In 2022, the WTA calendar was still being affected by the cancellation of women's professional tennis tournaments in China and Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the allegations of Peng Shuai against Zhang Gaoli and the Chinese Communist Party.
