Fernand Berckelaers
Fernand Berckelaers (10 March 1901, in Borgerhout – 12 February 1999, in Paris), pseudonym Michel Seuphor (anagram of Orpheus), was a Belgian painter. Seuphor established a literary magazine, ''Het Overzicht'', in Antwerp in 1921. He moved in Dutch, Belgian, and French avant-garde circles. He associated at various points with Theo van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian, and was influenced by their iconic Neo-plasticist works. Along with Joaquin Torres-Garcia and Pierre Daura, Seuphor founded the abstract artists' group Cercle et Carré which included Wassily Kandinsky and Le Corbusier. In 1934, Seuphor moved to Anduze in the South of France following his marriage. Seuphor wrote and edited three books; ''A Dictionary of Abstract Painting'' (Tudor Publishing Co., 1958), ''Abstract Painting: 50 Years of Accomplishment'' (Dell Laurel Edition, 1964), and "The Sculpture of this Century" (George Braziller, Inc. Le Corbusier
Charles-Édouard Jeanneret (6 October 188727 August 1965), known as Le Corbusier ( , , ), was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and one of the pioneers of what is now regarded as modern architecture. He was born in Switzerland and became a French citizen in 1930. His career spanned five decades, and he designed buildings in Europe, Japan, India, and North and South America. Dedicated to providing better living conditions for the residents of crowded cities, Le Corbusier was influential in urban planning, and was a founding member of the (CIAM). Victor Vasarely
Victor Vasarely (; born Győző Vásárhelyi, ; 9 April 1906 – 15 March 1997) was a Hungarian-French artist, who is widely accepted as a "grandfather" and leader of the Op art movement. His work entitled ''Zebra'', created in 1937, is considered by some to be one of the earliest examples of Op art. Life and work Vasarely was born in Pécs and grew up in Pöstény and Budapest, where, in 1925, he took up medical studies at Eötvös Loránd University. In 1927, he abandoned medicine to learn traditional academic painting at the private Podolini-Volkmann Academy. In 1928/1929, he enrolled at Sándor Bortnyik's private art school called ''Műhely'' (lit. "Workshop", in existence until 1938), then widely recognized as Budapest's centre of Bauhaus studies. Aurélie Nemours (29 October 1910 – 27 January 2005) was a French Painting, painter who made geometric abstraction, abstract geometrical paintings and was highly influenced by De Stijl, or neoplasticism. Biography Aurélie Nemours was born 29 October 1910 in Paris, France. In 1929 she enrolled in the École du Louvre. In 1936, she married Auguste Nemours. In 1941 Nemours attended to the Andre Lhote Academy. In 1945, she began writing poetry. While for the first time at the Salon of Sacred Art she exhibited in 1946 until 1979. Nemours established her style in 1949 she then used her form of media to conduct research on the interplay of lines and their relationship to colored surfaces, angles, the point of geometric shapes, horizontal and vertical. Jean Gorin
Albert Jean Gorin (2 December 1899 – 29 March 1981) was a French neoplastic painter and constructive sculptor. He was a disciple of Piet Mondrian, and remained true to the concept of rigid geometricism and use of primary colors, but pushed the limits of neoplasticism by introducing circles and diagonals. He was known for his three-dimensional reliefs. Early years Albert Jean Gorin was born on 2 December 1899 in Saint-Émilien-de-Blain, Loire-Atlantique. His father made shoes and his mother managed a small hotel with a restaurant. He attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes in 1914–16. After the end of World War I (1914–18) he studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris from 1919–22. Adam Jankowski (born 1948 in Gdańsk, Poland) is an Austrian painter and professor at the Offenbach University of Art & Design. His studio is located in St. Pauli, Hamburg, Germany. The early work of Jankowski is closely related to the '68 movement. The political subject of his painting was seen as a provocation at that time.
