Ferenc Juhász (politician)
Ferenc Juhász (born 6 July 1960 in Nyíregyháza) is a former Minister of Defence for Hungary. From 1990, he has been a member of the Hungarian Socialist Party The Hungarian Socialist Party ( hu, Magyar Szocialista Párt), commonly known by its acronym MSZP, is a centre-left social-democratic and pro-European political party in Hungary. It was founded on 7 October, 1989 as a post-communist evolution a ... (MSZP), and from 2000 the vice chairman of the party. He was the Minister of National Defense in Hungary from 27 May 2002 to 9 June 2006. He was also Member of Parliament between 1994 and 2014. The Central Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation on suspicion of embezzlement against Juhász and his former State Secretary László Fapál on 13 July 2012. According to the indictment Juhász undersold a ministry-owned apartment to Fapál around 2005 or 2006, which caused an estimated damage of 43 million Ft to the Ministry of Defence. The Minister of Defence of Hungary ( hu, Magyarország honvédelmi minisztere) is a member of the Hungarian cabinet and the head of the Ministry of Defence. Péter Medgyessy (; born 19 October 1942) is a retired Hungarian politician who served as Prime Minister of Hungary from 27 May 2002 to 29 September 2004. On 25 August 2004, he resigned over disputes with coalition partner Alliance of Free Democrats, but remained as acting prime minister for a 30-day period as required by the Constitution, and a few additional days until his successor Ferenc Gyurcsány was confirmed by the National Assembly.
