Ferdinand Maxmilián Brokoff
Ferdinand Maxmilian Brokoff ( Czech: ''Ferdinand Maxmilián Brokoff''; 12 September 1688 – 8 March 1731) was a sculptor and carver of the Baroque era. Life and career He was born in Červený Hrádek near Jirkov, Bohemia, the second son of Elisabeth and Jan Brokoff. Ferdinand Brokoff's work is often compared with the work of Matthias Braun. Initially he mostly helped his father, but from 1708 he worked independently and two years later, at the age of 22, he became known for his work on several statues on Charles Bridge in Prague, including the statuary of ''St. Adalbert'', the statue of ''St. Gaetano'', the sculpture group of ''Francis Borgia'', the statues of ''St. Ignatius'' and ''Francis Xaverius'', and the sculpture group of '' Saints John of Matha, Felix of Valois and Ivan'' which depicts in its lower section a dungeon in which emaciated Christians are guarded by a dog and a figure in Turkish costume. Jan Vilímek
Jan Vilímek (german: Johann Vilimek; 1 January 1860 – 15 April 1938) was a Czech illustrator and Painting, painter. Vilímek was born on 1 January 1860 in Žamberk, Bohemia. He created many portraits of famous personalities from Bohemia and other Slavic peoples, Slavonic nations. During the 1880s, these portraits were regularly published in magazines such as ''Humoristické Listy'', ''Zlatá Praha'' and ''Světozor''. In the 1890s, some of these illustrations were assembled into a book, ''České album''. He died on 15 April 1938 in Vienna. Calvary
Calvary ( la, Calvariae or ) or Golgotha ( grc-gre, Γολγοθᾶ, ''Golgothâ'') was a site immediately outside Jerusalem's walls where Jesus was said to have been crucified according to the canonical Gospels. Since at least the early medieval period, it has been a destination for pilgrimage. The exact location of Calvary has been traditionally associated with a place now enclosed within one of the southern chapels of the multidenominational Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a site said to have been recognized by the Roman empress Helena, mother of Constantine the Great, during her visit to the Holy Land in 325. Other locations have been suggested: in the 19th century, Protestant scholars proposed a different location near the Garden Tomb on Green Hill (now "Skull Hill") about north of the traditional site and historian Joan Taylor has more recently proposed a location about to its south-southeast.
