Fennagh, local name Fenagh () is a village in County Carlow, Ireland. It lies on the R724 regional road between Muine Bheag (Bagenalstown) and Myshall. County Carlow ( ; ga, Contae Cheatharlach) is a county located in the South-East Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Carlow is the second smallest and the third least populous of Ireland's 32 traditional counties. Carlow County Council is the governing local authority. The county is named after the town of Carlow, which lies on the River Barrow and is both the county town and largest settlement, with over 40% of the county's population. Much of the remainder of the population also reside within the Barrow valley, in towns such as Leighlinbridge, Bagenalstown, Tinnahinch, Borris and St Mullins. R724 Road
The R724 road is a regional road in County Carlow, Ireland. From its junction with the R448 at Royal Oak on the western edge of Muine Bheag Town it takes an easterly route crossing the River Barrow, the R705 regional road and the Dublin – Kilkenny railway line in the town. It continues east to Fennagh and Myshall, before terminating in Kildavin at the N80. The entire route is within County Carlow. The road is long. Muine Bheag
Bagenalstown ( ), officially named Muine Bheag (), is a small town on the River Barrow in County Carlow, Ireland. History and name The town grew within the townland of Moneybeg, from Irish ''Muine Bheag'' or ''Muinebheag'' (meaning "small thicket"). In the 18th century there was a small hamlet there. Walter Bagenal decided to build a town on the site, to be named "New Versailles" and modelled after Versailles in France.Mayse, Shirley. ''Our Caswell Relatives''. Myshall () is a small village 22 km southeast of Carlow town, on the slopes of Mount Leinster, in County Carlow, Ireland. It is situated on the R724 regional road. Adelaide Memorial Church The Church of Ireland Adelaide Memorial Church of Christ the Redeemer in Myshall is a miniature version of Salisbury Cathedral. Completed in 1913, Dover-based businessman, John Duguid, commissioned it in memory of his daughter Constance, who was killed in a horse riding accident while visiting her sister in Myshall, and her mother Adelaide, who died in 1903. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Richie Kavanagh
Richard Kavanagh (born 19 March 1949) is an Irish singer-songwriter. Despite psoriasis crippling his hands, at the age of 44 he went on to become a singer-songwriter who wrote the song "Aon Focal Eile" which gained national attention in 1996. Tony Keogh in South East Radio was the first person to play the song and, after Gerry Ryan began playing it on his RTÉ 2fm national morning show, Kavanagh had a top-ten hit. Early years Richie Kavanagh was born and raised in the Raheenwood area of Fenagh, Carlow in Ireland where he still resides. He was encouraged to write songs and sketches by one of his primary school teachers. His other major influence was the travelling road show which would visit his locality when he was a child. Richie loved the performances on the stage and used to go home and stand on the kitchen table and re-enact what he had seen.
