Fenix Football Club Sydney, is an Australian association football club located in Fairfield, New South Wales. The club was founded on 15 August 2004, currently a member of the Sydney Amateur Football League under the Football NSW federation. The club is largely supported by members of the Latin American Australian community. History Inaugurated on 15 August 2004, by Chilean Luis Gutiérrez, and the Uruguayan Fabian Mateo, the early days of Fenix were mostly arranged by the two characters mentioned above. The name of the club was adopted by the founders who were searching for a name with the characteristics of being a Uruguayan club, but not of extreme fame like Peñarol or Club Nacional de Football, Nacional, and in honour to Centro Atlético Fenix, an Uruguayan institution founded in July 1916, the name was adopted and the club baptised as Fenix. Yennora is a suburb of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia, 29 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district. The residential part of the suburb is primarily in the Local government in Australia, local government area of the City of Fairfield, although the industrial area in west is a part of Cumberland Council, New South Wales, Cumberland Council. It is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History Yennora is an Indigenous Australians, Aboriginal word meaning ''walking'' or ''to stroll''. Aboriginal people from the Cabrogal tribe, a sub-group of the Gandangara tribe, have lived in the Fairfield area for over 30,000 years. European settlement began in Fairfield in the early 19th century. A siding platform was built by the New South Wales Government Railways in 1927 and given the name Yennora.
