Feni ( bn, ফেনী) is a city in the Chittagong Division of south-eastern Bangladesh. It is the headquarters of Feni Sadar Upazila and Feni District. The city has a population of about 265,000, making it the 18th largest city in Bangladesh. Feni is the oldest municipality in this region, established in 1958. History Feni city came into existence in 1929. It learnt that, in the long past this area was under marshy land and meaning Feni. The continuous silting process made it possible for human habitation to be established, as a result of which people far and near called this area Feni. Feni Government College
Feni Government College is a traditional higher education institute of Feni District of Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in southeastern Bengal. It is located in the heart of Feni City. History In 1918, various initiatives were taken to establish the college. In 1922, Khan Bahadur Bazlul Huq constituted a trustee board and since then the college was originally started. Municipal Corporations or municipalities (also known as pourasabha) are the local governing bodies of the cities and towns in Bangladesh. There are 330 such municipal corporations in eight divisions of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Feni Sadar ( bn, ফেনী সদর) is an upazila of Feni District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The district headquarters and all other administrative offices are located here. Geography Feni Sadar is located at . It has 57,331 households and a total area of 197.33 km2. Feni Girls' Cadet College is a military high school for girls, located in Feni Sadar Upazila, Bangladesh. Cadet colleges are autonomous residential institutions that impart an all round education to the young learners at the secondary and higher secondary level.
