Fencing At The 2019 Pan American Games
Fencing competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between August 5 and 10, 2019 at the Lima Convention Centre. 12 medal events are scheduled to be contested, in the three disciplines of épée, foil and sabre. In each discipline an individual and team event will be held for each gender. A total of 156 fencers will qualify to compete at the games. Fencing competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 20 to 25 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House). Due to naming rights, the arena was known as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of twelve fencing events were held: six each for men and women. Nick Itkin (born October 9, 1999) is an American right-handed foil fencer, two-time NCAA champion, 2022 team Pan American champion, and 2021 team Olympic bronze medalist. He won a bronze medal in individual men's foil at the 2022 senior World Fencing Championships in Cairo, Egypt. Early life Itkin was born in Pacific Palisades, California, grew up in Los Angeles, and is Jewish. His parents are Michael ("Misha"; a fencing coach) and Tatiana (a former rhythmic gymnast, and current coach). His older sister Julia competed in rhythmic gymnastics for the US national team. Race Imboden (born April 17, 1993) is an American left-handed foil fencer. Imboden is a nine-time team Pan American champion, six-time individual Pan American champion and 2019 team world champion. A three-time Olympian, Imboden is a two-time team Olympic bronze medalist. Imboden competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, and the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.
