Feminist Party (Finland)
The Feminist Party (, ) is a Finnish feminist political party. It was founded in June 2016, and registered as a political party in January 2017. It calls gender equality, human rights, and human security the primary pillars of its politics. The party had 40 candidates in nine municipalities in the 2017 Finnish municipal elections. Party chair Katju Aro was elected to the City Council of Helsinki. The party lost its representation in municipal councils after the 2021 municipal election. The party was de-registered in 2023 after failing to win seats in two consecutive parliamentary elections. 2017 Finnish Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Finland on 9 April 2017 with advance voting between 29 March and 4 April. The councils in 295 municipalities in Finland (excluding Åland) were elected. Several municipalities altered the size of their councils (mainly because of municipal mergers) before the elections which resulted in reduction of seats available from 9,674 to 8,999. Feminist Initiative ( no, Feministisk initiativ; abbreviated FI) is a political party in Norway. It defines itself as a feminist party, based on inclusion and intersectionality. The party was founded in 2015, based on a party with the same name in Sweden. The Norwegian party ran during the 2015 local elections, with municipal lists in Oslo and Bergen, and a county list in Hordaland Hordaland () was a county in Norway, bordering Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Telemark, and Rogaland counties. Hordaland was the third largest county, after Akershus and Oslo, by population. The county government was the Hordaland County Municipal ..., but failed to win any seats. The party then ran for the 2017 parliamentary election, but, with only 696 votes, were far away from winning any seats. Feminist Initiative did not run during the 2019 local elections. Feminist Initiative (Sweden)
Feminist Initiative ( sv, Feministiskt initiativ; abbreviated FI, Fi, or F!) is a feminist political party in Sweden. The party was formed in 2005 from a pressure group of the same name, and has since taken part in every election to the Riksdag and the European Parliament. The party won its first elected representative in 2014, with Soraya Post taking one seat in the European Parliament. Fi received 3.1% of the vote in the 2014 general election, the best result in its history, and won seats in thirteen municipalities in the 2014 municipal elections – including in Sweden's largest cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm, where it became part of governing " red-green-pink" coalitions. Support for Feminist Initiative dwindled, however, and the party only managed to obtain 0.4% of the vote in the 2018 general election, making it the largest political party without representation in the Riksdag. 2019 European Parliament Election In Finland
The 2019 European Parliament election in Finland for the election of the delegation from Finland to the European Parliament took place on 26 May 2019. A working committee consisting of the party secretaries of all parliamentary parties suggested in May 2017 that the 2019 Finnish parliamentary election, scheduled for April, should be organized simultaneously with the European Parliament election. The suggestion was considered by the Minister of Justice Antti Häkkänen, but did not have enough parliamentary support to pass. 2023 Finnish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections will be held in Finland on 2 April 2023, or earlier if the parliament is dissolved ahead of schedule, and will elect members of parliament for the 2023–2027 convocation. Background The former prime minister, Antti Rinne, resigned from his post due to a scandal regarding the Finnish Postal Service (Posti). Rinne's Social Democratic Party of Finland elected a 34-year-old MP from the province of Pirkanmaa, Sanna Marin, to replace him. Marin took office on 10 December 2019. 2019 Finnish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 14 April 2019. For the first time, no party received more than 20% of the vote. The Centre Party, which had been the largest party following the 2015 elections, dropped to fourth place, losing 18 seats and recording its lowest vote share since 1917. The Social Democratic Party saw the biggest gains, winning six more seats and narrowly becoming the largest party for the first time since 1999. The Green League and the Left Alliance also gained five and four seats respectively. Anti-racism encompasses a range of ideas and political actions which are meant to counter racial prejudice, systemic racism, and the oppression of specific racial groups.
