The Kelly Family
The Kelly Family is an Irish-American music group consisting of a multi-generational family, usually nine siblings who were joined occasionally on stage in their earlier years by their parents. They play a repertoire of rock, pop, and folk music, and sing fluently in English, Spanish, German, and Basque. The group had chart and concert success around the world, predominantly in continental Europe - mainly in Germany, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, and Portugal - and some in Ireland. They have sold over 20 million albums since the early 1980s and were ranked as the 6th most popular music act in Germany in the 1990s. ''Almost Heaven'' is the tenth regular studio album by European-American pop group The Kelly Family. Based on a concept by Dan Kelly, it was co-produced by Kathy and Paddy Kelly and released in 1996 throughout most of Europe. Following the major success of previous albums ''Over the Hump'' and '' Christmas for All'' and the number-one single "I Can't Help Myself," the album debuted number-one in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. It also entered the top 5 in the Netherlands and Norway and made it to the top 20 in Belgium. ''Almost Heaven'' eventually sold more than three million copies worldwide, making it the band's second biggest-selling release to date. Kathleen Ann Kelly (born 6 March 1961) is a singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in Leominster, Massachusetts, she is the third child of the musical family group The Kelly Family, a multi-generational pop group that achieved success in Europe in the 1990s. In 1999, Kathy released her first solo album titled ''The Best Of Kathy Kelly'' which, in addition to her best songs from the albums of The Kelly Family (''see'' The Kelly Family discography), contained five new songs. While still recording and touring with the group throughout the 2000s, Kathy worked on her solo projects, which resulted in three more LPs up to date and a number of singles. Michael Patrick Kelly (Paddy Kelly) was born on December 5, 1977. He is an Irish-American singer, musician and composer. Kelly was born in Dublin. He came to fame as the third-youngest member of the pop and folk band The Kelly Family, who belong to the commercially most successful acts in Europe with over 20 million records sold since the mid-1990s. After years in the public eye, Kelly released his debut solo album ''In Exile (Michael Patrick Kelly album), In Exile'' and shortly thereafter retired to a monastery in France. After six years he returned to the music business in 2011. Kelly currently resides in Germany. The Dutch Top 40 ( nl, Nederlandse Top 40) is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Multiple record charts have been inaugurated in Romania since the 1990s. The Romanian Top 100 was the country's national chart until 2012. Founded in 1995, it was a ranking based on the compilation of charts submitted by local Romanian radio stations. The Romanian Top 100 was published weekly and was also announced during a radio show starting in 1998. Compilation of the list was first handled by Body M Production A-V, followed by Media Forest. In the 2010s, the chart was announced during a podcast on Kiss FM, but the broadcast ended in February 2012. Later that month, the Airplay 100—which was compiled by Media Forest and also broadcast by Kiss FM—replaced the Romanian Top 100 as a national chart.
