Felix Oehme
Felix Oehme (born 1981) is a German yachtsman. Sportive successes End of 2006, Oehme sailed with a five-man crew over the Atlantic and received the second prize of the Stiftung Hochseesegeln (Foundation for High Seas Sailing) for this performance. In September 2006 and 2008 he successfully represented Germany at the World University Match race. Furthermore, he ranked among the top five in several international races for class 49 boats, including the national German championship. On November 16, 2008 Oehme and his co-skipper Boris Herrmann forming the Beluga Offshore Sailing Team won the Portimão Global Ocean Race, a five leg regatta around the world for class 40 boats. This makes them the first German professional team on a German yacht to win a leg of an international trans-ocean race and the whole race itself. Boris Herrmann
Boris Herrmann (born 28 May 1981) is a German yachtsman and author competing mostly in offshore races in the IMOCA 60 class. He placed fifth in the 2020/21 Vendée Globe and third in the 2023 The Ocean Race. With the experiences of these races he wrote two books. He is currently preparing his campaign for the 2024/25 Vendée Globe with the Malizia-Seaexplorer, the first boat developed under his own management. Together with Pierre Casiraghi he founded the sailing team Team Malizia to support his IMOCA 60 campaign. The team belongs to the most professional and financially more competitive teams in the IMOCA 60 class. Early life Boris Herrmann was born on 28 May 1981 in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony where he grew up in household enthusiastic towards sailing. He finished school at the Neues Gymnasium Oldenburg. Portimão Global Ocean Race
The Global Ocean Race (GOR, previously known as ''Portimão Global Ocean Race'') is a yachting race for Class40 yachts which was first held in 2008–09. The second edition took place in 2011–12 and the third edition was scheduled to start in September 2015. The race was created for single- and doublehanded yachts (Category "Singlehand/Class 40" and “Doublehanded/Class 40") and small budgets. The two former professional yachtsmen Josh Hall and Brian Hancock were the initiators of the race. The GOR is the first Class-40-race leading through the Southern Ocean (Pacific) and around Cape Horn. History 2008–09 race The six yachts (two solo, four double-handed) started the first edition of the race on 12 October 12, 2008 in Portimão, Portugal. The finish was in June 2009.
