Feagaiga Stowers (born 17 November 2000) is a Samoan weightlifter. She competed in the women's +90 kg event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal. At the 2022 Oceania Online Cup she set three new Oceania records and won best overall female. Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The ''snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the clean), and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk). The clean and press, wherein a clean was followed by an overhead press, was formerly also a competition lift, but was discontinued due to difficulties in judging proper form. Weightlifting At The 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games
The 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games, officially known as the V Commonwealth Youth Games, and commonly known as Samoa 2015, was the fifth Commonwealth Youth Games which started in the year 2000. It was held from 5 to 11 September, 2015 in Apia, the capital of Samoa. Samoa were the only bidders for the Games. All events took place in the capital city, Apia. The opening and closing ceremonies were held in Apia Park, which also hosted the athletics, rugby and tennis competitions. All other events (boxing, swimming, squash, weightlifting and lawn bowls) were hosted in the Faleata Sports Complex. World Weightlifting Championships
The World Weightlifting Championships is an event organised by International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The first competition, held in March 1891, was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England.
