Fedot Tumusov
Fedot Semenovich Tumusov (russian: Федот Семёнович Тумусов; born 30 June 1955, Urgench, Xorazm Region) is a Russian political figure and a deputy of the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th State Dumas. From 1987 to 1989, Tumusov was an instructor of the Yakut branch of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. From 1991 to 1993, he was the Chairman of the Permanent Commission of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for the introduction of market relations and entrepreneurship. He also worked as an advisor to the Head of the Sakha Republic Mikhail Nikolayev. From 1993 to 2003, he was the president of the Sakhaalmazprofinvest fund that aimed to create effective mechanisms for solving socio-economic and environmental problems of the republic. The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 8th convocation (russian: Государственная Дума Федерального Собрания Российской Федерации восьмого созыва) is the current convocation of the lower house of Russian parliament. The composition of the 8th State Duma was determined based on the results of the 2021 legislative election. Elections were held using a mixed system: 225 deputies were elected on party lists and 225 — in single-member constituencies. Of the 14 parties that participated in the elections, only 5 were able to overcome the 5% barrier. And for the first time since 1999, more than four parties were able to form their own factions. Three more parties and five independent candidates were able to win one seat each through single-mandate constituencies.
