The Cape Verdean Athletics Federation (FCA; ''Federação Caboverdiana de Atletismo'') is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Cape Verde. History FCA was founded in 1989, and was affiliated to the IAAF the same year. Former president was António Ramos. He was elected for the first time in 2008, and re-elected in 2011. Current president is Fernando Pinto. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. Cape Verde has risen to prominence in a number of sporting areas in recent decades.
