Federation X
Federation X or "FED X" is an American rock band, originally formed in Bellingham, Washington, founded by Ben Wildenhaus (guitar), Bill Badgley (guitar, vocals), and Beau Boyd (drums) in 1998. Career In 1999, the band released a self-titled LP on its own Molasses Manifesto Records, then followed it in 2001 with ''American Folk Horror'', recorded by Tim Green at Louder Studios in San Francisco and released by Bellingham's Estrus Records. In 2003, Estrus released ''X Patriot'', recorded by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. In 2005, Estrus released ''Rally Day'', recorded by Ryan Anderson at MARS Studio in Bellingham. Wantage USA released ''Rally Day'' on vinyl. In 2006, Josh Holland of Dog Shredder joined the band for a West Coast tour and at a recording session at MARS Studio, which produced the songs "Only Fool" and "Chinese Food and Vietnam," released as a 7-inch on Recess Records in 2012. Bellingham ( ) is the most populous city in, and county seat of Whatcom County in the U.S. state of Washington. It lies south of the U.S.–Canada border in between two major cities of the Pacific Northwest: Vancouver, British Columbia (located to the northwest) and Seattle ( to the south). Estrus Records is an independent record label from Bellingham, Washington that makes Surf music, surf, Garage rock, garage and trash rock music. Recess Records
Recess Records is an independent record label founded in 1988. Label founder Todd Congelliere (frontman for F.Y.P and Toys That Kill) initially made 100 cassettes of F.Y.P's songs and sold them at skateboard contests. Two years later, Congelliere released a vinyl record, F.Y.P's ''Extra Credit'', an 11-song 7-inch record, and the label took off from there. In between touring the U.S., Europe, and Japan, Congelliere began releasing records for fellow punk rock and DIY bands, eventually having a roster of close to 20 artists on his label. Pinhead Gunpowder, fronted by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, announced in April 2008 that a new 7" single from the band would be released on Recess Records in late May 2008.
