Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria)
The Federal Capital Territory, commonly known as the FCT, is a federal territory in central Nigeria. Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, is located in this territory. The FCT was formed in 1976 from parts of the states of old Kaduna State, Kaduna, Kwara State, Kwara, Niger State, Niger, and Plateau State, Plateau states, with the bulk of land mass carved out of Niger state. The Federal Capital Territory is within the North Central (Nigeria), North Central region of the country. Unlike other states of Nigeria, which are headed by elected Governors, it is administered by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, headed by a minister, who is appointed by the President of Nigeria, President. Ibrahim Bunu
Ibrahim Bunu is a Nigerian architect and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria), Federal Capital territory (FCT), Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, holding office from May 1999 until February 2001 in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was replaced by Engineer Mohammed Abba Gana, also of Borno State, in a cabinet reshuffle in February 2001. Biography Bunu was born on 25 December 1950 in Ngala, Borno State. In 1982 he was appointed Minister of State, Housing and Environment. Bunu designed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Towers in Abuja. In April 2008 the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) summoned Bunu and other former FCT ministers to defend their actions with respect to land allocations, revocations and sale of Federal Government houses during their tenure. The following table presents a list of Nigeria's state governors. Governors are elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms). A minister appointed by the president oversees affairs in the Federal Capital Territory. Nigeria is a federation of 36 states and 1 federal capital territory. Each of the 36 states is a semi-autonomous political unit that shares powers with the federal government as enumerated under the Constitution of Nigeria, Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is the capital territory of Nigeria, and it is in this territory that the capital city of Abuja is located. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is a Nigerian ministry that administers the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. It is headed by a Minister appointed by the President, assisted by a Permanent Secretary, who is a career civil servant. The Federal Capital Territory Administration was created by President Olusegun Obasanjo on December 31, 2004 following the scrapping of the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory (MFCT). Seven new Mandate Secretariats were created for Education, Transport, Agriculture and Rural Development, Health and Human Services, Social development, Legal Services and Area Council. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing party and power was transferred peacefully. Mohammed Musa Bello (born 8 January, 1959) is a Nigerian banker who is the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, in office since 2015. Early life Musa was born into a Fulani family in Yola; his father, Alhaji Musa Bello, was the Managing Director of Northern Nigeria Development Company from 1970 to 1976, and a trusted friend of President Muhammadu Buhari. He started his primary education in Yola before graduating from Our Lady's High School in Kaduna in 1971. He attended Barewa College in Zaria from 1971 to 1976, where he received a Higher School Certificate. Muhammad Adamu Aliero (born 1 January 1957) was governor of Kebbi State in Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
