The Federal Building and United States Courthouse, built in 1930, is a historic landmark located in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is part of the complex of federal buildings on Gold Avenue that includes the Old Post Office (Albuquerque), Old Post Office, Dennis Chavez Federal Building, and the Federal Building at 517 Gold SW. The imposing six-story building, faced with limestone and buff-colored terra-cotta tile in a brick pattern with molded inlays, is topped with a Mediterranean-style red tile roof and a domed cupola. The building was designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under James A. Wetmore. The lobby of the Federal Building contains a mural by Loren Mozley titled ''The Rebellion of 1680'' which depicts the Pueblo Revolt. Another mural, ''Justice Tempered with Mercy'' by Emil Bisttram, adorns the wall outside the District Courtroom on the sixth floor. The Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, also known as U.S. Post Office and Court House, is a historic government building in Dothan, Alabama. Architecture and history The Classical Revival building was begun in 1909 and completed in 1911 to designs by architects and engineers in the Office of the Supervising Architect under James Knox Taylor. It was built to house facilities of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, the United States Post Office and other federal agencies. The Federal Building and United States Courthouse is located in Sioux City, Iowa, United States. The present city hall in Sioux City was previously the post office, federal building and courthouse. This building replaced it. It was designed by the local architectural firm of Beuttler & Arnold with the Des Moines firm of Proudfoot, Rawson, Souers & Thomas providing input and oversight. Construction began in 1932 under the direction of the Acting Supervising Architect of the Treasury James A. Wetmore. The building was dedicated on December 29, 1933. The Federal Government had paid $270,000 for the property, and about $725,000 on construction. Architecturally, the three-story, stone structure is a combination of Stripped Classicism and Art Deco. The post office moved to a new facility in 1984, and additional office space and a new courtroom were created in the building.
