Federación Universitaria Argentina
The Argentine University Federation ( es, Federación Universitaria Argentina; FUA) is the most important student organization in Argentina. The FUA was created on April 11, 1918 within the University Reform student movement originated in Córdoba, which later spread through Latin America, that demanded an autonomous system in which teachers, graduates, and students would participate in the government of the universities. The FUA gathers the university federations of every local university, which are at the same time composed of student centres of each faculty, totalling a million and a half students throughout the country. The biggest and most important of such federations is the FUBA of the University of Buenos Aires with over 300,000 students (as of 2005). Other important federations include the FULP (La Plata), FUR (Rosario), FUC ( Córdoba), FUT ( Tucumán) and FUL ( Litoral). Buenos Aires ( or ; ), officially the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires ( es, link=no, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires), is the capital and primate city of Argentina. José Ingenieros
José Ingenieros (born Giuseppe Ingegnieri, April 24, 1877October 31, 1925) was an Argentine physician, pharmacist, positivist philosopher and essayist. He was born in Palermo (Italy), and graduated from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in 1900. Ingenieros was philosophically influenced by Herbert Spencer and Auguste Comte, and wrote a very important philosophical and social work, "El hombre mediocre" (''The Mediocre Man''), in 1913. Ingenieros founded the Buenos Aires Institute of Criminology in 1907 and the Argentine Psychological Society in 1908; he was elected President of the Argentine Medical Association in 1909. Ingenieros married Eva Rutenberg, in Lausanne, in 1914. Deodoro Roca
Manuel Deodoro da Fonseca (; 5 August 1827 – 23 August 1892) was a Brazilian politician and military officer who served as the first president of Brazil. He was born in Alagoas in a military family, followed a military career, and became a national figure. Fonseca took office as provisional president after heading a military coup that deposed Emperor Pedro II and established the First Brazilian Republic in 1889, disestablishing the Empire. After his election in 1891, he stepped down the same year under great political pressure when he dissolved the National Congress. He died less than a year later. Guillermo Estévez Boero (28 December 1930 – 3 February 2000) was an Argentine student activist, lawyer and Socialist politician. Estévez Boero was born in Rosario, Santa Fe Province, and studied law at the National University of the Littoral, where he was a disciple of the Spanish criminal expert and President in exile of the Second Spanish Republic Luis Jiménez de Asúa. Fernando Nadra (June 29, 1916, San Miguel de Tucumán, – August 22, 1995, Buenos Aires) was an Argentine lawyer, journalist and public speaker.
