''Feat. Ai'' (stylized FEAT. A.I.) is the second compilation album by Japanese–American singer-songwriter Ai, released December 1, 2004, by Island Records and Universal Sigma. The compilation was Ai's first release under Island Records and contains a variety of songs that have her as a featured artist. Upon the album's release, ''Feat. Ai'' peaked at number 33 on the Oricon Albums chart and number 79 on Taiwan's G-Music chart. Background and release With the success of ''2004 Ai'', Ai's former label, BMG released a compilation album in September 2004 of unreleased material and remixes titled '' Flashback to Ai''. Material from the compilation were from Ai's 2001 debut album, ''My Name Is Ai''. Within a few weeks after the release of ''Flashback to Ai'', Universal Japan announced Ai signed to Island Records after her contract with Def Jam Japan expired. Ai (singer)
, known mononymously as Ai (, stylized as AI or A.I. ), is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, spokeswoman, and actress. Born in Los Angeles, California, Ai moved to Kagoshima, at age 4. Motivated to become a singer, Ai returned to Los Angeles, attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. While in Los Angeles, Ai began her musical career performing as part of a gospel choir at a Mary J. Blige concert and as a dancer for Janet Jackson's music video, "Go Deep". She briefly joined the Asian girl group SX4 in 1999 until she graduated high school. After being discovered by BMG in 2000, Ai relocated to Japan and released her debut album, ''My Name is Ai'' (2001), to very little commercial success. Zeebra
, known professionally as , is a Japanese hip hop recording artist and DJ who made his first appearance in 1995. Zeebra is a former member of the hip-hop group King Giddra, which also included DJ Oasis and K Dub Shine, and the older brother of fellow hip hop recording artist SPHERE of INFLUENCE. He went on to pursue a solo career shortly after in 1997, and signed with the Future Shock record label. Zeebra is one of the most popular rappers in Japan, and his popularity is not specific to either gender. He appears not only in hip-hop magazines, but also in fashion and street culture magazines. M-Flo
is a Japanese hip hop group consisting of record producer DJ Taku Takahashi, Verbal and Lisa. Lisa left the group in 2002 to pursue a solo career and the remaining members then started the M-Flo Loves... project working different vocalists for each song over three albums, including the likes of Namie Amuro, Bonnie Pink, Koda Kumi and BoA. Their mainstream success and critical acclaim established them as the most iconic and influential hip-hop production team in Japan with success throughout Asia. Heartsdales
Heartsdales was a Japanese-American hip pop duo composed of sisters and , known by their stage names Rum and Jewels, respectively. Yumi was born on December 17, 1981 and Emi on December 4, 1976 in Tokyo, Japan. Their family moved to the Yonkers area of New York right after Yumi was born, due to their father's job as an interior designer. In 1995, the family moved back to Japan, and Yumi attended Tama Art University and Emi attended Keio University. In summer 2001, Yumi and Emi appeared on the TV audition program Asayan after sending in a demo. They won the competition, and landed a contract with Avex Entertainment. Emi Hinouchi
is a Japanese urban music singer-songwriter. She was formerly signed under King Records' sub-label Venus-B and Taku Takahashi's Tachytelic Records. She is best known for writing songs for Heartsdales and for her collaborations with M-Flo. As of 2011, Hinouchi has released twelve singles, three studio length albums, and collaborated with numerous artists. Biography Emi Hinouchi was born in Osaka, Japan. Uzi (hip Hop Artist)
Uzi (pronounced as "Uji") is a popular Japanese hip-hop artist. He has released four major albums, most recently his “Natural 9” album released in March 2008. Uzi is one of the rappers to incorporate more overt elements of Japanese culture into his music and videos, specifically aspects referring to the samurai (to which he claims direct ancestry). He is a great example of an artist who maintains the localization of hip-hop music through his dependence on the incorporation of Japanese themes into his work.
