''Fe Real'', stylized as ''fe Real'', is the fifth studio album by the English reggae vocalist Maxi Priest, released in 1992. It was nominated for a Grammy Award, in the "Best Reggae Album" category. The title character of Terry McMillan's novel ''How Stella Got Her Groove Back'' listens to the album while on vacation in Jamaica. The album peaked at No. 60 on the UK Albums Chart. It peaked at No. 191 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Production The album was recorded in Jamaica, England, and the United States. Many producers worked on the album, including Sly Dunbar. Maxi Priest
Max Alfred "Maxi" Elliott (born 10 June 1961), known by his stage name Maxi Priest, is a British reggae vocalist of Jamaican descent. He is best known for singing reggae music with an R&B influence, otherwise known as reggae fusion. He was one of the first international artists to have success in this genre, and one of the most successful reggae fusion acts of all time. Early life Maxi Priest was born in Lewisham, London, the second youngest of nine siblings. His parents had moved to England from Jamaica to provide more opportunity for their family and he grew up listening to gospel, reggae, R&B, and pop music. He first learned to sing in church, encouraged by his mother, who was a Pentecostal missionary. Dwight Pinkney OD (born 1945), also known as Brother Dee, is a Jamaican guitarist best known for his work as a session musician and as a member of Zap Pow and the Roots Radics, who since 1999 has recorded as a solo artist. Andy Scott (guitarist)
Andrew David Scott (born 30 June 1949) is a Welsh musician and songwriter. He is best known for being the lead guitarist and a backing vocalist in the band Sweet. Following bassist Steve Priest's death in June 2020, Scott is the last surviving member of the band's classic lineup. Career Early career Scott started out playing bass guitar. His first gig was at St Peters Hall in Wrexham with The Rasjaks in November 1963 and then with other bands in Wales such as Guitars Incorporated and 3Ds. He then progressed to guitar and played with other bands including The Saints, The ForeWinds, and The Missing Links. Annabel Lamb (born 1955) is an English singer-songwriter. Career Annabel Lamb has released eight albums to date. She had a British Top 30 hit in 1983 with her cover version of The Doors song, "Riders on the Storm", her only hit record, hit in the UK Singles Chart. Simon Law (born 28 May 1961, in Luton, England) is a producer, keyboardist and songwriter for Soul II Soul. Career Law is an original member of Soul II Soul. The band had a #1 UK hit single with "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)", where he appeared in one of the song's two music videos, and a Top 10 hit with " Keep On Movin'". The band were awarded two Grammys for the songs "Back to Life" and the instrumental "African Dance", both of which Law co-wrote. Jean-Paul Maunick (born 19 February 1957, Mauritius), better known by his stage name Bluey is a British guitarist, bandleader, composer and record producer. He has led the British acid jazz band Incognito since its formation in 1979. With Incognito, he has released fifteen studio albums as well as a number of live albums, remix albums and compilation albums. Prior to forming Incognito, Bluey was an original member of the group Light of the World. Gary Benson (born Harry Hyams) is an English singer and songwriter. Career Benson spent eight weeks on the UK Singles Chart in 1975 with his own composition, " Don't Throw It All Away". The single, released on the State Records label (State Records STAT10), reached No. 20 on the chart, leading to an appearance on BBC Television's ''Top of the Pops''. The song had originally been recorded by the Shadows, and they had performed it in the 1975 ''A Song for Europe'' contest, where it finished fourth of six entries. The song was covered in the United States by the Delfonics in 1978. There are also a number of reggae versions that include a dancehall style cut by Barrington Levy. ''No Reservations'' is the debut studio album by British-Asian musician Apache Indian, released in January 1993 by Island Records and their subsidiary Mango. The musician and singer recorded the album primarily in Jamaica's Tuff Gong studios with producers including Simon and Diamond, Bobby Digital, Phil Chill and Sly Dunbar. It follows, and includes, Apache Indian's 1990–91 singles – "Move Over India", "Chok There" and "Don Raja" – which saw him pioneer a fusion of Jamaican ragga and Indian bhangra later known as bhangramuffin.
