Omar Fayad
Omar Fayad Meneses (born 26 August 1962) is a Mexican politician from the state of Hidalgo who has served as a federal deputy and senator. He served as the Governor of Hidalgo from 2016 to 2022. He is a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party. Political career Fayad was born on 26 August 1962 in Zempoala, Hidalgo to a Lebanese father and a Mexican mother. He obtained his law degree from the UNAM in 1985. After his graduation, he worked in Attorney General of Mexico's office for several years. In 1989, he moved to the National Institute of Penal Sciences (INACIPE) and later served at various education posts in the state of Hidalgo. He served as Hidalgo's secretary of public education and attorney general during 1996–98. He then served in several public safety and security capacities, including as a police commissioner or customs administrator. Ashraf Fayadh
Ashraf Fayadh ( ar, أشرف فياض, born 1980 in Saudi Arabia) is an artist and poet of Palestinian origin. He is the son of refugees from Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip and lives in Saudi Arabia. He was active in the British-Arabian arts organization, ''Edge of Arabia'', and organized exhibitions of Saudi art in Europe and Saudi Arabia. In November 2015, he was sentenced to death by beheading for apostasy. The Saudi court overturned the death sentence three months later, imposing an eight-year prison term with 800 lashes. Conviction for apostasy After an argument at a café, Fayadh was detained by religious police in Abha, released on bail, then rearrested and tried in early 2014. He was sentenced to four years in prison and 800 lashes. A Saudi appeals court returned the case to the lower court where a new judge was assigned to the case. Álvaro Fayad Delgado "The Turk" (in Spanish, ''el Turco'') was a Colombian guerrilla, co-founder and leader of the 19th of April movement (M-19), founded in 1970. Early life Fayad was born in Ulloa Valley on July 24, 1946 and grew up in Cartago, Valle del Cauca. He obtained his high school diploma from the Seminary of Santa Rosa and entered the National University of Colombia in 1965 to study psychology. There he met fellow militant Camilo Torres Restrepo. Fayad entered the Communist Youth (Juventudes Comunistas, JUCO) and there met Jaime Bateman Cayón, an influential figure in his life. He and Bateman joined the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, where they remained until the end of 1969, when they entered the National Popular Alliance. Shafiq al-Fayadh (1937 – 8 October 2015) ( ar, شفيق الفياض) was the commander of the Syrian 3rd Division and a close adviser to President Hafez al-Assad. Mohammad Said Ibrahim Efendi Fayad (; 1921–2003) known as Said Fayad, was a Lebanese poet and literary journalist from the village of Ansar in the Nabatieh Governorate of southern Lebanon. Personal life Fayad was the eldest son of Ibrahim Efendi Fayad, a local notable who served as a district governor under the French mandate, and Lamia Ali Dhaher, niece of the poet and religious figure Sheikh Suleiman Dhaher, a prominent intellectual in the Nabatieh governorate. Said was schooled in Nabatieh, Hasbaya, the Maqased in Saida and the Freres. José Antonio Gali Fayad (; born November 25, 1959) is a Mexican politician affiliated to the PAN. He was the Governor of Puebla and previously served as the municipal president of Puebla City from 2014 to 2016. Life Gali was born the oldest of six siblings. While in high school, he met his wife, Alma Dinorah López Gargallo; they married in 1982 and have three children. Fayad Jamís (1930–1988) was a Cuban poet, painter, designer, journalist and translator. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico to a Lebanese-Cuban father and a Mexican mother. Moving to Cuba at the age of six, Jamis trained at the San Alexandro Academy before gaining renown as an abstract painter. He was a member of the modernist group of Cuban painters known as " Las Once" ("The Eleven"). Jamís lived in Paris in the 1950s, and attended the Sorbonne. The surrealist writer Andre Breton was a supporter of his work, and he co-exhibited with the sculptor Agustin Cardenas. Jamis returned to Cuba in 1959 and became involved in a wide range of activities including teaching, painting, and writing.
