The Honorable Faustine Villanneau Chebou Kamdem Fotso born on June 12, 1965, is a computer scientist, environmentalist, and lawyer from Cameroon. Public life In 2012, Fotso was 1st Deputy Mayor of Baham, a town in Western Cameroon. In 2013, she was elected MP in the National Parliament Assembly, representing the highlands of the Western Region. She sits on the Constitutional Laws Committee and belongs to the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement. Baham (''Hom'' in the local language) is the seat of the Department of Hauts-Plateaux, in the Western Province of Cameroon. It also constitutes a traditional Bamileke chiefdom. It is situated 250 km (155 mi) from Douala and 20 km (12 mi) from Bafoussam. National Assembly (Cameroon)
The National Assembly (french: Assemblée Nationale) is the lower house of the Parliament of Cameroon. It has 180 members, elected for five-year terms in 49 single and multi-seat constituencies. Together with the senate, it constitutes the legislative arm of government. Although multiparty elections have been held since 1992, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (RDPC), the ruling party since independence, has always retained control of the National Assembly. The Cameroonian political system invests overwhelming power in the hands of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, and the RDPC exists essentially to support Biya and his policies. The Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM; french: Rassemblement démocratique du Peuple Camerounais, RDPC) is the ruling political party in Cameroon.
