Fatuma Abdulkadir Adan
Fatuma Abdulkadir Adan () (born ) is a Kenyan lawyer and peace ambassador. She is a recipient of the Stuttgart Peace Prize. Life Adan was born to parents who were from two warring tribes in Marsabit, Northern Kenya. After her training as a lawyer, she returned to her hometown in order to promote peace between the conflicting Borana Oromo, Gabra and Rendille peoples. In 2003, she founded Horn of Africa Development Initiative, a non-governmental organization she uses to foster peace and advocate for education in Kenya. Through the Horn of Africa Development Initiative, Adan launched a programme called "Shoot to score, not to Kill", that uses soccer to engage Kenyan youths in advocacy for peace. Fatuma Ali Saman (born 1968) is a Kenyan educationist and women's rights campaigner and a board member of Kenya's Independent Policing Oversight Authority (KIPOA). Early life Fatuma Ali Saman was born in Mandera, Northern Kenya in 1968. She lost her father at a young age. Education Saman attended St Brigid's School in Nairobi during the post-independence period when the "7-4-2-3 system" was in place. She went on to Wajir girls Secondary School in 1983, leaving in 1986 with grades that qualified her to be admitted to university. However, in 1987, she went to train as a teacher at Asumbi College in South Nyanza, near Kenya's western region. She later went to university, graduating with a bachelor's degree in education, Religion and History. Fatuma Binti Yusuf Al-Alawi
Fatuma binti Yusuf al-Alawi (c. 1650 – 1715) was a queen of Unguja in pre-Sultanate Zanzibar (modern Tanzania). A supporter of the Portuguese in their war against Oman, she sent supplies to the Europeans at the Siege of Fort Jesus. She was captured during the subsequent Omani occupation of Zanzibar and exiled to Oman. Allowed to return in 1709 she ruled the island as a client state of Oman for the rest of her life. Life Fatuma binti Yusuf al-Alawi (also called Fatima) was born in about 1650. She was of Sayyid descent and her ancestors were from Hadhramaut, Yemen but she claimed Persian ancestry as well. The daughter of King Yusuf of Zanzibar her father's territory of Unguja was split into two, a southern kingdom ruled by her brother Bakari bin Yusuf from Kizimkazi and a northern kingdom ruled by Fatuma from the site of modern-day Zanzibar City. Fatuma Sado Dergo (born 11 October 1991) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. She has a personal best of 2:26:09 hours and has won marathons in Hamburg, Los Angeles and Xiamen. Fatuma signed up with athletics agents Elite Sports Management International and began running at international road races at the age of eighteen.
