Kara Fatma
Fatma Seher Erden (1888 – 2 July 1955), known as Kara Fatma, was a decorated Turkish hero who distinguished herself as a militia leader and soldier during the Turkish War of Independence. Nickname The word ''kara'' literally means "black" in Turkish and is sometimes used as a synonym for "brunette"; when used for warriors, however, it usually means "courageous". Life She was born in Erzurum, in the Erzurum Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. Her father was Yusuf Ağa. Her husband died during the Caucasus Campaign in the First World War. In 1919, she travelled to Sivas where a congress was held by Mustafa Kemal Pasha (later Atatürk). She requested to be enlisted in the army. After Mustafa Kemal Pasha's approval, she formed a militia group. There were 43 women in addition to 700 men under her command. She was taken prisoner twice by the Greek Army. Tazeen Fatma is an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh. She belongs to the Samajwadi Party and is a member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Rampur assembly constituency of Rampur district. She is pro-vice-chancellor of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. Early life and education Fatma was born on 10 March 1949 to Mohammad Abdul Qaiyoom and Asghari Khatoon in Bilgram, a village in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. She attended Aligarh Muslim University and obtained M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. She started working as associate professor in Political science in the department of education . Tazeen married Azam Khan in 1981 and has two sons, Abdullah and Abeed. Azam Khan is also a member of the Samajwadi Party and a former minister in the Uttar Pradesh Government.
