Father Christmas (song)
"Father Christmas" is a song by English rock band the Kinks, released in 1977. It tells of a department store Father Christmas who is beaten up by a gang of poor kids who tell him to give them money instead of toys, as toys are impractical; and asks that the toys be given "to the little rich boys." Background and release "Father Christmas" is sung from the perspective of a Mall Santa who is mugged by working class kids, who tell him to leave his presents for "the little rich boys" and request for money and jobs for their parents instead. Guitarist Dave Davies commented on the song, "I love the humor of it, and the aggression and bitterness. I could see the faces of my parents when Christmas came around. They had to struggle to make ends meet. We kind of got what we needed, but there was something fake about the holiday." The Kinks

Gigolo Aunts are an American power pop band, who formed in 1981. Biography Early history The band was formed by middle school students Steve Hurley, Dave Gibbs, Phil Hurley, and Paul Brouwer in 1981 in Potsdam, New York, United States, originally known as Sniper. In 1986, their name changed to Gigolo Aunts (after the Syd Barrett song, "Gigolo Aunt", from his 1970 album '' Barrett'') and became a staple on the Northern New York music scene, gaining a reputation for frenetic live sets that featured the close harmonies of the Hurley brothers and Gibbs. Everything is an American alternative rock band from Harrisonburg, Virginia, best known for their 1998 hit "Hooch". History The band was formed in 1989 by students at James Madison University. Going on the road full-time in '92, they played 200-250 shows a year for nearly the next 10 years, starting in the mid-Atlantic, and then gradually expanding their grass roots fan base until it extended across half of the U.S. The band released its first 3 albums independently, selling almost 30,000 CDs before signing a brief and ill-fated deal with Capricorn Records in 1995. Letters to Cleo is an American alternative rock band originating from Boston, Massachusetts, best known for the 1994 single, "Here & Now", from their full-length debut album, '' Aurora Gory Alice''.
