Faster (George Harrison Song)
"Faster" is a song by English rock musician George Harrison from his self-titled 1979 studio album. The song was inspired by Harrison's year away from music-making in 1977, during which he travelled with the Formula 1 World Championship, and by his friendship with racing drivers such as Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda. Although equally applicable to other professions, the lyrics address the difficulties of achieving and maintaining success in the field of motorsport, particularly Formula 1. In Britain, "Faster" was issued as the third single from ''George Harrison'', and was available on a picture disc depicting the faces of several past world champion drivers. The single raised funds for a cancer research fund set up by Swedish driver Gunnar Nilsson in 1978. It also commemorated Nilsson's countryman Ronnie Peterson, who died as a result of injuries sustained during the 1978 Italian Grand Prix. Harrison made a video of the song, during which he performs the track in the back of ...

Fasting
Fasting is the abstention from eating and sometimes drinking. From a purely physiological context, "fasting" may refer to the metabolic status of a person who has not eaten overnight (see " Breakfast"), or to the metabolic state achieved after complete digestion and absorption of a meal. Metabolic changes in the fasting state begin after absorption of a meal (typically 3–5 hours after eating). A diagnostic fast refers to prolonged fasting from 1 to 100 hours (depending on age) conducted under observation to facilitate the investigation of a health complication, usually hypoglycemia. Many people may also fast as part of a medical procedure or a check-up, such as preceding a colonoscopy or surgery, or before certain medical tests. Intermittent fasting is a technique sometimes used for weight loss that incorporates regular fasting into a person's dietary schedule. Fasting may also be part of a religious ritual, often associated with specifically scheduled fast days, as determ ...

Isuzu Faster
The Isuzu Faster is a pickup truck that was manufactured and marketed by Isuzu between 1972 and 2002 over three generations. The Faster was succeeded worldwide by Isuzu D-Max, except in North America. First generation (1972–1980) Isuzu of Japan introduced the ''KB20'' / ''25'' series Faster pickup in 1972. The regular wheelbase models were designated "20", while "25" referred to the longer version. Derived from the Isuzu Florian, the Faster shared many components, including doors and the front-end assemblage. It served as a replacement for the Isuzu Wasp, a pickup version of the Bellett which preceded the Florian. Both single and twin headlamp front fascia designs were produced. Due to the exterior dimensions, and engines offered were found to be in compliance with Japanese regulations, the platform was classed in the favorable "compact" designation, and competed with other Japanese made products sold in Japan at the time. In most export markets, Isuzu rebranded ...

FASTER (software)
FASTER (First Automated Teleprocessing Environment Reponder) was a transaction processor that ran on IBM mainframe systems under OS/MFT. FASTER was available from IBM and designed for rapid, low to medium volume online processing. This process was entirely interactive (screen-oriented using 2260 display terminals). The 'official' version of FASTER was single thread only and was a forerunner of MTCS before it was released. Transactions A FASTER transaction is a set of operations which together perform a task. Usually, the majority of transactions are relatively simple tasks such as updating the balance of an account. FASTER applications comprise transactions which were written in IBM Basic Assembly Language and interfaced with 2260 terminals. Each FASTER program was initiated using a transaction identifier. FASTER screens were sent as native 2260 datastreams to the terminal. History The first release of FASTER was made available prior to the first release of MTCS in t ...
