Farres
Farres ( el, Φαρρές) is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Erymanthos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 241.848 km2. The municipality Farres existed between 1835 and 1912, and again between 1998 and 2011. Its seat of administration was in the town Chalandritsa. Farres is situated in the centre of Achaea, on the upper courses of the rivers Peiros and Parapeiros. Towards the southeast (Mount Erymanthos) and northeast (Panachaiko) the terrain is increasingly mountainous. It is located about 15 km south of Patras and 30 km west of Kalavryta. The Greek National Road 33 (Patras - Tripoli) runs through western Farres. Fares (village)
Fares ( el, Φαρές; grc, Φαραί, Pharai; la, Pharae) is a village in the municipal unit of Farres, Achaea, Greek. It is located on the left bank of the river Peiros, 2 km southeast of Isoma and 17 km south of Patras. In 2011 Fares had a population of 466 for the village and 519 for the community, which includes the village Prevedos. Prevedos is on the Greek National Road 33 ( Patras - Tripoli). History Fares is named after the ancient town Pharae, which might be named after the Greek mythological figure Pharis, son of Hermes and the Danaid Philodameia. Katarraktis (Greek: Καταρράκτης, meaning "waterfall") (before 1928: ''Lopesi'', in Greek: Λόπεσι) is a mountain village in the municipal unit of Farres in the municipality of Erymanthos in Achaea, Greece. It is 5 km east of Chalandritsa and 20 km southeast of Patras. In 2011 Katarraktis had a population of 93. The village is situated near a 110 meters high waterfall, hence the name of the village. Relics from the Mycenean period can be found in the vicinity. Chalandritsa
Chalandritsa ( el, Χαλανδρίτσα) is a town and a community in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Erymanthos, of which it is the seat of administration. Chalandritsa is situated in hills north of the river Peiros, 17 km south of Patras. The community consists of the settlements Chalandritsa, Mastoraiika-Stamaiika and Kydonies. From 1835 until 1912, and again from 1998 until 2011 it was a municipal district and the seat of the municipality of Farres. Chalandritsa is at the edge of a seismic fault, which caused a minor earthquake in February 2008. Lakkomata Λακκώματα is a mountain village and community in the municipality of Erymanthos in Achaea, Greece. According to the 2011 census, the village had 113 inhabitants, and the community, which also includes the village Tsapournia, 133 inhabitants. Geography Lakkomata is located in the upper valley of the river Peiros, at the northwestern foot of the mountain Erymanthos, at an elevation of 610 m above sea level. Peiros
The Peiros ( el, Πείρος, formerly also ''Kamenitza'' and ''Achelous'') is a river in the central and the northwestern parts of Achaea, Greece. It is long. Geography The Peiros is the second longest river in Achaea, after Selinountas. It rises in the northeastern part of the Erymanthos mountains, near the village Lakkomata. Kalavryta ( el, Καλάβρυτα) is a town and a municipality in the mountainous east-central part of the regional unit of Achaea, Greece.
