Robert Farquharson
Robert Donald William Farquharson (born 1969) is an Australian man convicted of murdering his three sons on 4 September 2005, by deliberately driving his car into a farm dam. Farquharson was convicted in an earlier trial and was sentenced to life imprisonment with no minimum term. However, he maintained his innocence and appealed his sentence. On 17 December 2009, he won the right to a retrial, due in part to the key witness for the prosecution, Greg King, facing potential criminal charges himself at the time of the original trial. He was released on bail on 21 December, but was again convicted of murder on 22 July 2010. Robin de la Condamine (6 November 1877 – 11 January 1966) was an English actor who used the stage name Robert Farquharson. Harold Acton wrote that he was "our last great actor" in the tradition of Henry Irving and that he was known for his "emphatic stammer" and his dandyish ways. Of Spanish descent, Condamine was born in London and attended Rugby School. He studied under actor F.H. Macklin and made his stage debut in two plays by Henrik Ibsen at the age of 21. In 1905, he played Herod in the English premiere of Oscar Wilde's '' Salomé'', directed by Florence Farr, impressing critics Max Beerbohm and Robbie Ross. Robert Farquharson (politician)
Robert Farquharson (21 June 1836 – 8 June 1918) was a Scottish doctor and Liberal politician, who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aberdeenshire West for 25 years. Early life and education Farquharson was born in Edinburgh, the second eldest of six sons, to Francis Farquharson of Finzean (1802-1876), a well-known ophthalmic surgeon, and his wife Alison Mary (née Ainslie) (1802-1863). Alison was the daughter of Robert Ainslie, a close friend of the poet Robert Burns. Farquharson was educated at Edinburgh Academy, before receiving his medical education at the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated with an MD in 1858, presenting the thesis ''"On the parasite diseases of the scalp"''. Ray Fletcher Farquharson (4 August 1897 – 1 June 1965) was a Canadian medical doctor, university professor, and medical researcher. Born in Claude, Ontario, he attended and taught at the University of Toronto for most of his life, and was trained and employed at Toronto General Hospital. With co-researcher Arthur Squires, Farquharson was responsible for the discovery of the Farquharson phenomenon, an important principle of endocrinology, which is that administering external hormones suppresses the natural production of that hormone. He served in the First World War, First and Second World Wars, earning appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his medical work during the latter. Norman Gordon Farquharson (18 July 1907 – 11 August 1992) was a male tennis player from South Africa. In 1931 Farquharson and his compatriot partner Vernon Kirby were runners-up in the doubles final of the French Championships, losing in straight sets to the American pair George Lott and John Van Ryn. In 1937 they again reached the doubles final in which they lost to the German pair Gottfried von Cramm and Henner Henkel in four sets. Nick Farquharson (born 7 September 1988 in Coventry) is an English footballer who used to belong to Crewe Alexandra. Career Farquharson began his career at the Crewe Alexandra academy, well known for its production of strikers. He progressed through the academy ranks and was named as Crewe's Under-18s captain for their 2006-07 campaign which saw the team progress well in their FA Youth Cup campaign before being knocked out by Cambridge United.
