Faroese Teachers School
The Faroese Teachers School ( fo, Føroya Læraraskúli) is a college in Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands, which became part of the University of the Faroe Islands on 1 August 2008. Since 2008 it has offered bachelor's degrees in general and specialized education; before 2008, education students did not receive a BA. The school's four-year program in general education qualifies graduates for teaching positions in primary schools and preschools in the Faroe Islands and Denmark. University Of The Faroe Islands
The University of the Faroe Islands ( fo, Fróðskaparsetur Føroya) is a state-run university located in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. It consists of five faculties: Faculty of Faroese Language and Literature, Faculty of Social Sciences and History, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science and Technology and Faculty of Health Sciences. The University offers bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. programs. The student body is relatively small (around 1000). The University organises an annual dissertation competition open to all students. Annita á Fríðriksmørk (born 27 July 1968 in Tórshavn) is a Faroese politician and teacher. She is a member of Republic (Tjóðveldi). Background Annita á Fríðriksmørk grew up in Strendur on the island Eysturoy. She became a school teacher from Føroya Læraraskúli in 1992. She has worked as a teacher since 1992 in the Faroe Islands and in Denmark. Political career Annita á Fríðriksmørk was elected for the Faroese parliament for the first time in 1998. Jógvan á Lakjuni (born 13 November 1952 in Fuglafjørður) is a Faroese politician, composer and teacher. He was speaker of the Faroese parliament, the Løgting, from 2011 to 2015 and from 2019 to 2022. He worked as a fisherman from 1969 to 1972. He was educated as a school teacher in 1977, and worked as a school teacher in Fuglafjørður from 1977 to 1989. During this period he also studied at the University of the Faroe Islands and since 1989 has worked as a high school teacher at Føroya Handilsskúli in Kambsdalur. Jóannes Dan Eidesgaard (born 19 April 1951) is a former Faroese politician. He was the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands from 2004, starting shortly after the general election of 20 January 2004, until 26 September 2008, when a new coalition took office. He served as Finance Minister from 1996 to 1998 and again from 2008 to 2011. He was a member of the Danish Folketing representing the Faroe Islands from 11 March 1998 until 20 November 2001.
