Farmsen (Hamburg U-Bahn Station)
Farmsen is a rapid transit station located in the Hamburg quarter of Farmsen-Berne, Germany. The station was opened in 1918 and is served by Hamburg U-Bahn line U1. History The station was constructed from 1912 to 1914 and opened on 12 September 1918 on the Walddörfer railway line. The village of Farmsen had been an exclave of Hamburg territory, so a stop was planned here. The station was served by steam trains until 20 September 1919 and re-opened after electrification of one track on 6 September 1920 which allowed a train stop every two hours. But only after a second electrified track had been opened on 13 May 1921, more frequent services could be offered. On 20 May 1923 the second track was completed to Volksdorf. From 1962 to 1964 a 1,000m long railway repair workshop (''Betriebswerkstatt'') was built in Farmsen which was needed for the then completed U1 line. Volksdorf is a rapid transit station on the Hamburg U-Bahn line U1. Volksdorf is the last station on the U1's main line, and branch-off station for the U1's Ohlstedt and Großhansdorf branches. The station is located in the Hamburg suburb of Volksdorf, Germany. Volksdorf is part of the Hamburg borough of Wandsbek. History At the time the station was opened in 1918, Volksdorf was an exclave of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Back then, Volksdorf station was part of the Walddörferbahn. In February 1925 the station was electrified and integrated into the Hochbahn (U-Bahn) system. Horst Janssen
Horst Janssen (14 November 192931 August 1995) was a German draftsman, printmaker, poster artist and illustrator. He had a prolific output of drawings, etchings, woodcuts, lithographs and wood engravings. Janssen was a student of Alfred Mahlau at the . He first published in the newsweekly ' in 1947. In the early 1950s, he started working in lithography, on an initiative of paper manufacturer Guido Dessauer, using the technical facilities of a coloured paper factory. The first retrospective of Janssen's drawings and graphic works was shown in 1965, first in the Hanover, then in other German cities and in Basel. In 1966, he was awarded Hamburg's Edwin Scharff Prize. International exhibitions followed.
