Farmingdale, Maine
Farmingdale is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,995 at the 2020 census. Farmingdale is included in the Augusta, Maine micropolitan New England City and Town Area. History In 1852, Farmingdale incorporated as a town, combining parts of South Hallowell, North Gardiner and East/ West Gardiner. Many businesses existed in Farmingdale, most of them along the Kennebec River. A major business was harvesting and selling ice worldwide. The Knickerbocker Ice Company (the largest ice company in the country), and the Marshall Ice Company had ice-houses at Bowman's Point. The Knickerbocker Ice Company burned in 1894 or 1895 leaving only the chimney that stood until it was demolished in 1911 to make room for the Central Maine Power Plant. Other businesses on the river in Farmingdale included shipyards, brickyards, pottery, and a glue factory. Farmingdale is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Farmingdale in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,970 at the 2010 census, out of 2,956 in the entire town. Geography Farmingdale is located in southern Kennebec County at (44.254253, −69.778199). It occupies the eastern part of the town of Farmingdale and is bordered to the north by the city of Hallowell, to the south by the city of Gardiner, and to the east across the Kennebec River by the towns of Chelsea and Randolph. The western boundary of the CDP follows Blaine Road, Bowman Street, and Peacock Road. U.S. Route 201 and Maine State Route 27 run through the community as Maine Avenue, leading north into Hallowell and to Augusta, the state capital. To the southwest US 201 leads through Gardiner and to Brunswick, while SR 27 crosses the Kennebec to pass through Randolph and leads southeast to Wiscasset. Farmingdale is an incorporated Political subdivisions of New York#Village, village on Long Island within the Oyster Bay (town), New York, Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, Nassau County, New York (state), New York. Farmingdale is a historic railroad train station, station in Farmingdale, New York, along the Main Line (Long Island Rail Road), Main Line (Ronkonkoma Branch) of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located just east of Secatogue Avenue, on South Front Street and Atlantic Avenue. The station has two platforms (north and south), with an underground pedestrian walkway connecting them. The station house is on the south platform. Parking is available on both sides of the tracks. The station is east of Pennsylvania Station (New York City), Penn Station and just 0.3 miles (0.5 km) west of the Nassau County–Suffolk County boundary.
