Farm To Market Road 50
Farm to Market Road 50 (FM 50) is a Farm to Market Road in the U.S. state of Texas maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The route begins at State Highway 105 near Brenham and passes to the north through Independence to U.S. Route 79 and U.S. Route 190 near Hearne. The road has a brief concurrency with SH 21 along a bridge crossing the Brazos River. The road is in Washington, Burleson, Brazos, and Robertson counties. The road was originally designated in 1942 along the portion of the present route north of SH 21. The road was briefly extended through Snook to SH 36 at Lyons before being rerouted over its current route through Independence to SH 105. Brenham ( ) is a city in east-central Texas in Washington County, United States, with a population of 17,369 according to the 2020 U.S. census. It is the county seat of Washington County. Washington County is known as the "Birthplace of Texas," as it contains the site of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836 in the town of Washington-on-the-Brazos. State Highway 211 (SH 211) (Hill Country Parkway) is a state highway west of the city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. This route was designated in 1986 as an access route to the Texas Research Park. Portions of the route were built, but significant landowner opposition kept the connecting section from being completed. The completed sections of the route consist of a southern section from U.S. Highway 90 (US 90) north to Farm to Market Road 1957 (FM 1957) and a northern section from FM 471 north to SH 16. The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a pass-through toll agreement that Bexar County submitted in October 2008. Prairie Hill is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Texas, United States. Founded in 1870, the community flourished from the 1880s through to the 1960s and is still in existence today. State Highway 90 (SH 90) is a state highway that runs between Madisonville, Texas and Navasota. It was originally designated by 1933 along its current route, except that it extended southwest from Navasota to Brenham. This section was transferred to SH 105 in 1973. History The routing between Madisonville and Navasota was originally set before the state's highway system was started.
