Hormoz Farhat
Hormoz Farhat ( fa, هرمز فرهت; 9 August 1928 – 16 August 2021) was a Persian-American composer and ethnomusicologist who spent much of his career in Dublin, Ireland. An emeritus professor of music, he was a fellow of Trinity College, Dublin. Described by the ''Irish Times'' as a "a gifted and distinctive composer of contemporary classical music," his compositions include orchestral, concertante, piano and choral music, as well string quartets and chamber works. He also wrote numerous film scores, including that of Dariush Mehrjui's 1969 film '' The Cow''. However, his musicological research dominates his legacy; his writings on the music of Iran—a country which he insisted be called 'Persia'—were pivotal in ethnomusicology, particularly his acclaimed 1990 study ''The Dastgah Concept in Persian Music''. Edward George Farhat (June 7, 1926 – January 18, 2003) was an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name The Sheik (often called The Original Sheik to distinguish him from The Iron Sheik, who debuted in 1972). Farhat is credited as one of the originators of the hardcore wrestling style. He was also the promoter of Big Time Wrestling, and the uncle of ECW wrestler Sabu. Farhat promoted his shows at Cobo Hall in Detroit and was the booker for Frank Tunney's shows at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto from 1971 to 1977. Farhat Square
Farhat Square (Sahat Farhat) is one of the oldest squares in the Syrian city of Aleppo. It is located in the old Jdeydeh District, outside the historic walls of the Ancient City of Aleppo. Farhat Square is a symbolic area of Christianity in Aleppo as three cathedrals are located there: Greek Catholic, Armenian and Maronite. Churches have been in the area since the 15th Century. It was named after Bishop Gabriel Germanos Farhat (1670-1732) who was Maronite Bishop of Aleppo between 1725-1732 and founded the Maronite Library of Aleppo. Sahat Farhat was named in his honor and his statue was placed in the square in 1932 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his death. The square and the buildings around it have been damaged by heavy fighting between combatants during the Battle of Aleppo (2012–16). Farhat Naseem Hashmi ( ur, ; born December 22, 1957) is a Pakistani-Canadian Islamic scholar, Muslim television preacher, and the founder of Al-Huda Institute. She holds a PhD degree in Islamic studies from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and was formerly a lecturer and assistant professor at the Faculty of Usul-al-Din at International Islamic University, Islamabad. Hashmi founded Al-Huda International Welfare Foundation in 1994. The foundation started a number of schools to teach the Quran and Hadith to women in order to "help women become better observant Muslims by helping them understand the Quran". Edmond Farhat (20 May 1933 – 17 December 2016) was a Lebanese prelate of the Catholic Church who spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See Biography Farhat was born in Ain Kfaa, Lebanon, on 20 May 1933. On 28 March 1959, the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch Paul Peter Meouchi ordained him a priest. He earned degrees in theology, philosophy and canon law in Paris and Rome and a doctorate in theology.
