Fardhidin
Fardhidin () is a town in the Sool region of Somaliland/Somalia. The town is 50 miles away from Las Anod, the provincial capital. History During the Somaliland campaign, the town was the site of a major battle between Dervish troops led by Mohammed Abdullah Hassan and the Somaliland Camel Corps. In June 2013, an outbreak of acute watery diarrhea occurred in the surrounding villages of Bo'ame, including Fardhidin, infecting many small children. In November 2017, there was an outbreak of measles that killed children in the surrounding villages of Bo'ame, including Fardhidin. Residents sought help from Bo'ame district head Xayle Xasan Shire, and Shire requested assistance from the Puntland government. Sool, Somalia
Sool ( so, Sool, ar, صول) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in south eastern Somaliland/north western Somalia. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod. The region is disputed by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and Puntland, a Federal Member State of Somalia. The region is partially controlled by both polities. Bo'ame
Bo'ame () is an ancient town in the eastern Sool region. Somaliland has effective control there since 2022, but Puntland also has a territorial claim. It is the capital of Bo'ame district which includes the small towns of Karin-gorfood, Fardhidin, Dan-Gudban, Caleeli, Buura-wadal and Garaca Dacare and Biriqodayaga. Bo'ame is a commercial centre for the largely agricultural district. Bo'ame has a business relationship to many cities such as Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland, Galkacyo, Bosasso and Las Anod, the capital of Sool. Dervish Movement (Somali)
The Dervish Movement ( so, Dhaqdhaqaaqa Daraawiish) was a popular movement between 1899 and 1920, which was led by the Salihiyya Sufi Muslim poet and militant leader Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, also known as Sayyid Mohamed, who called for independence from the British and Italian colonies and the defeat of Ethiopian forces. Measles
Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by measles virus. Symptoms usually develop 10–12 days after exposure to an infected person and last 7–10 days. Somaliland Camel Corps
The Somaliland Camel Corps (SCC) was a Rayid unit of the British Army based in British Somaliland. It lasted from the early 20th century until 1944. Las Anod
Las Anod ( so, Laascaanood; ar, لاسعانود) is the administrative capital of the Sool region of Somaliland. Territorial dispute The city is disputed by Puntland and Somaliland. The former bases its claim due to the kinship ties between the Dhulbahante clan and the dominant clan in Puntland, the Majeerteen, whilst the latter's claim is grounded on the border of the former British Somaliland Protectorate.
