Far Away In Time
''Far Away in Time'' was a 1987 CD compilation of tracks by Martha and the Muffins. The compilation consisted of ''Metro Music'' (the band's first album) in its entirety (tracks 1-10), plus four tracks from ''Trance and Dance'' (tracks 12-15), two tracks from ''This is the Ice Age'' (tracks 16-17), and the non-album single "Insect Love" (track 11). The album was compiled without any input from the band, and the poorly researched liner notes by Mick Wall (on the 1993 re-issue) contain numerous errors about the history of the band's various line-ups, as well as several errors about the origins of the tracks on this compilation. The correct information is listed above. Track listing References

This Is The Ice Age
''This Is the Ice Age'' was Martha and the Muffins' third album, released on LP and cassette in 1981. The track "Women Around the World at Work" was released as a single in the UK and Canada (#24). "Swimming", featuring a lead vocal by Mark Gane, was also issued as a single in Canada. The album was a debut for Daniel Lanois as a rock music producer; he would later (often in partnership with Brian Eno) produce for artists as diverse as U2, Bob Dylan, and Dashboard Confessional. Daniel's sister Jocelyne was a member of the band, playing bass and singing backing vocals on this album. The cover image was taken by Muffins' guitarist Mark Gane from an apartment he was living in on Bloor Street in Toronto. It depicts the Bank of Montreal's headquarters, First Canadian Place over a building in poor repair. After being unavailable for over 20 years, this much sought-after album was finally re-released on CD in 2005 by EMI Canada and includes two bonus tracks that were not on the o ...

Martha (Hebrew: מָרְתָא‎) is a biblical figure described in the Gospels of Luke and John. Together with her siblings Lazarus and Mary of Bethany, she is described as living in the village of Bethany near Jerusalem. She was witness to Jesus resurrecting her brother, Lazarus. Etymology of the name The name ''Martha'' is a Latin transliteration of the Koine Greek Μάρθα, itself a translation of the Aramaic מָרְתָא‎ ''Mârtâ,'' "the mistress" or "the lady", from מרה "mistress," feminine of מר "master." The Aramaic form occurs in a Nabatean inscription found at Puteoli, and now in the Naples Museum; it is dated AD 5 (Corpus Inscr. Semit., 158); also in a Palmyrene inscription, where the Greek translation has the form ''Marthein.'' Pope, Hugh"St. Martha" The Catholic Encyclopedia. Vol. 9. New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1919. Biblical references In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus visits the home of two sisters named Mary and Martha. The two sisters are co ...

Martha And The Muffins
Martha and the Muffins are a Canadian rock band, active from 1977 to the present. Although they only had one major international hit single "Echo Beach" under their original band name, they had a number of hits in their native Canada, and the core members of the band also charted in Canada and internationally as M + M. With Millar and Mark Gane as guitarists, and Johnson as lead vocalist, this is the line up that debuted at an Ontario College of Art Hallowe'en party in October 1977. They chose the name "Martha and the Muffins" to distance themselves from the aggressive names adopted by many punk bands o ...
