"Fantasy" is a song by British rapper Bashy, featuring vocals from Indian singer and actress, Preeya Kalidas. The song was released as a single on July 26, 2010 via digital download. It interpolates Baby D's "Let Me Be Your Fantasy". The music video for "Fantasy" was filmed in Los Angeles, while Bashy was supporting Gorillaz' North American tour. Ashley Thomas (born 4 February 1985), also known by his stage name Bashy, is an English actor and rapper. Early life Thomas was born in Hammersmith, West London, the first born of a Jamaican mother and Dominican father. He attended St. Mary's of the Angels RC Primary School. Aged eleven, his family moved to Kensal Rise, northwest London and he attended Cardinal Hinsley High School. Thomas attended The BRIT School for Performing Arts as a theatre student. Before becoming an actor and musician, Thomas worked as a postman for the Royal Mail and later as a London Bus driver. Musical career Black Boys In 2007, Thomas released the song "Black Boys". "Let Me Be Your Fantasy" is a song by British musical group Baby D. It was written and produced by band member Floyd Dyce and the vocals were sung by Dorothy Fearon (also known as Dorothy "Dee" Galdes and Dee Galdes-Fearon). It was originally released by Production House Records in October 1992, when it reached 76 on the UK Singles Chart. In November 1994, London Records subsidiary Systematic re-released the song, and it subsequently became a UK No. 1 hit for two weeks. A partially black-and-white music video was produced to promote the single. In 1996, it was included on the group's only album, ''Deliverance''. Preeya Kalidas (born 21 June 1980) is a British singer and actress. She played Amira Masood in the soap opera ''EastEnders'', from 2009 to 2012. She released the single "Shimmy" in July 2010, taken from her proposed debut album ''(I'm Over It) Constant Craving''; however, the album was never released. Early life Preeya Kalidas was born to Indian Gujarati parents in Isleworth, and was raised in Twickenham, South-West London. Baby D is an English breakbeat hardcore and house music group, best known for their 1992 single "Let Me Be Your Fantasy", which went number 1 in the UK in 1994. Career The group was formed by Production House Records, a record label set up in 1987 by former recording artist Phil Fearon, whose group Galaxy had had a number of hits in the 1980s. Involved with the rave scene, Production House's in-house record producer, Floyd Dyce, wrote and performed under several different names, including The House Crew, DMS and Xstatic. In popular music, interpolation (also called a replayed sample) refers to using a melody—or portions of a melody (often with modified lyrics)—from a previously recorded song but re-recording the melody instead of sampling it.
