Bill Anderson (singer)
James William Anderson III (born November 1, 1937), known professionally as Bill Anderson, is an American country music singer, songwriter, and television host. His soft-spoken singing voice was given the nickname "Whispering Bill" by music critics and writers. As a songwriter, his compositions have been covered by various music artists since the late 1950s, including Ray Price and George Strait. Anderson was raised in Decatur, Georgia, and began composing songs while in high school. While enrolled in college, he wrote the song " City Lights", which later became a major hit for Ray Price in 1958. His songwriting led to his first recording contract with Decca Records the same year. Anderson began having major hits shortly thereafter. The Nashville Network
The Nashville Network, usually referred to as TNN, was an American country music-oriented cable television network. Programming included music videos, taped concerts, movies, game shows, syndicated programs, and numerous talk shows. On September 25, 2000, after an attempt to attract younger viewers failed, TNN's country music format was changed and the network was renamed '' The National Network'', eventually becoming Spike TV in 2003 and Paramount Network in 2018. On November 1, 2012, the network was revived as a digital broadcast television network. However, this lasted only 11 months, and the channel changed its name to Heartland on October 9, 2013. ''Top Card'' is a game show that aired on TNN and produced by Reid-Land Productions, replacing TNN's original game show ''Fandango''. The show aired from April 3, 1989 to March 26, 1993 and was based on the card game Blackjack. Jim Caldwell was the original host of ''Top Card'', with Blake Pickett serving as his hostess. The two remained until the beginning of the series' third season in 1991 and were replaced by Dan Miller and Paige Brown. The announcer for the show's entire run was Don Dashiell, with Brad Staggs substituting for several weeks in the third season. Charlie Chase (broadcaster)
Charlie Chase (born October 19, 1952) is an American radio and television host best known for his work on The Nashville Network program ''Crook & Chase''. Childhood Charlie Chase was born October 19, 1952 in Rogersville, Tennessee. He attended school at Rogersville City School and began his radio career at age 13, working part-time—and later full-time—at WRGS AM 1370 Radio in Rogersville. Early career Chase graduated from Rogersville High School in 1970, after working on-air jobs as Program Director and Music Director at stations in Kingsport and Knoxville. He moved to Nashville in 1974, where he went to work at WMAK Radio (AM-1300), the city's top-rated station at the time. Later, he moved to the home of the Grand Ole Opry, WSM AM 650, replacing Pat Sajak when Sajak decided to pursue television (today he's the host of Wheel of Fortune).
