Fan Larkin
Philip Francis "Fan" Larkin (born 5 October 1941) is an Irish former hurler who played as a right corner-back at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Kilkenny, Larkin first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Kilkenny City Vocational School. He arrive don the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team. He made his senior debut during the 1962–63 league. Larkin went on to enjoy a lengthy career with the team, winning five All-Ireland medals, nine Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Larkin won five Railway Cup medals. 1980 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 1980 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 94th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The draw for the 1980 fixtures took place in September 1979. The championship began on 25 May 1980 and ended on 7 September 1980. Kilkenny were the defending champions but were defeated by Offaly in the Leinster final. Laois re-entered the Leinster Championship, having won the All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship the previous year. On 7 September 1980, Galway won the championship following a 2–15 to 3–9 defeat of Limerick in the All-Ireland final. Railyard GAA
Railyard Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Moneenroe, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club is solely concerned with the game of Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Moneenroe, on the Laois-Kilkenny border, Railyard Gaelic Football Club was founded by local FCA members at the height of the Emergency in April 1943. The club was just six years old when it achieved senior status by winning the Kilkenny JFC title. After that initial victory, Railyard went on to dominate the next three decades by winning 17 Kilkenny SFC titles between 1951 and 1978, including a record-setting five titles in-a-row on two occasions. Pat Moylan (Cork Hurler)
Pat Moylan is an Irish former hurler who played as a midfielder at senior level for the Cork county team. Moylan joined the team during the 1970 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1981 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, three Munster medals, two National League medals and one All-Star award. At club level Moylan was a three-time All-Ireland medalist with Blackrock. In addition to this he has also won five Munster medals and five county club championship medals. Éamonn O'Donoghue (hurler)
Éamonn O'Donoghue (born 5 February 1951 in Blackrock, Cork, Ireland) is an Irish former sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Blackrock and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1974 until 1983. Playing career Club O'Donoghue first came to prominence as a member of the hugely successful Blackrock minor team of the late sixties. In all he won three successive minor championship medals as Blackrock secured a remarkable four-in-a-row between 1966 and 1969. By 1973 O'Donoghue had become a key member of the Blackrock senior team and lined out in his first championship decider. A 2–12 to 2–10 defeat of Glen Rovers gave him his first championship medal. Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. Liam O'Brien (hurler)
Liam 'Chunky' O'Brien (1949 – 23 August 2021) was a former Republic of Ireland, Irish sportsperson. He played senior hurling with the Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny inter-county team in the 1970s. Early life Liam 'Chunky' O'Brien was born in Kilkenny in 1949. He was educated locally at St. John's De La Salle, a school associated with the O'Loughlin Gaels GAA, O'Loughlin Gaels hurling club. Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the St Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Kilkenny SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Kilkenny in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Kilkenny hurling. Introduced in 1887 as the Kilkenny Hurling Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams.
