Falsterbo (, outdatedly ) is a town located at the south-western tip of Sweden in Vellinge Municipality in Skåne. Falsterbo is situated in the southern part of the Falsterbo peninsula. History Falsterbo historically enjoyed trading privileges with the Hanseatic League. Skanör Med Falsterbo
Skanör med Falsterbo ( da, Skanør og Falsterbo) is a statistical locality (Swedish ''tätort'', locality code 3672), situated in Vellinge Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 6,937 inhabitants in 2010. It consists of the two old towns of Skanör and Falsterbo which have grown together and were unified in 1754, but are still regarded as different communities by locals. The preposition ''med'' means ''with''. Thanks to its southerly and maritime position, the locality is the mildest in Sweden, with winter lows barely averaging frosts. Background It is a conurbation consisting of the two medieval towns of Skanör and Falsterbo. Falsterbo Horse Show 2010
The 2010 Falsterbo Horse Show, the official Swedish show jumping horse show, was held between July 8 and July 11 as CSIO 5* and CDI 5*. The first horse show were held 1920 in Falsterbo, in 1969 the first show jumping derby was held here. FEI Nations Cup of Sweden The 2010 FEI Nations Cup of Sweden was part of the 2010 Falsterbo Horse Show. It was the fifth competition of the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup. The 2010 FEI Nations Cup of the Sweden was held at Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:30 pm. The competing teams were: France, the United States of America, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Poland. The competition was a show jumping competition with two rounds and optionally one jump-off. The height of the fences were up to 1.60 meters. Falsterbo Lighthouse
Falsterbo Lighthouse ( sv, Falsterbo fyr) . To the north-east of the lighthouse is the city of Skanör-Falsterbo, to the south-east of the lighthouse are some of the finest sandy beaches in Sweden and surrounding the lighthouse is the golf course of the Falsterbo Golf Club. History The sea route past the Falsterbo Headland has always been dangerous, because of the moving sand banks hidden under the sea. In 1230 the Dominikans from Lübeck sent a letter to the Danish king Valdemar with a request that a "mark" should be built to warn seafarers. There is no evidence that it was ever built. Most likely is that a prominent house at Falsterbo and The Church of Santa Maria were used as seamarks. In 1636, a lever light known as a "swape" light was built nearby at Kolabacken. An iron basket full of burning coal was hoisted up and down by a balanced bar, hence the light was moving and easier to detect. Hanseatic League
The Hanseatic League (; gml, Hanse, , ; german: label=Modern German, Deutsche Hanse) was a medieval commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and market towns in Central and Northern Europe. The Baltic Sea is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean that is enclosed by Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the North and Central European Plain. Vellinge Municipality
Vellinge Municipality (''Vellinge kommun'') is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in Vellinge. The present municipality is a result of the latest local government reform in Sweden. Lund
Lund (, , ) is a city in the southern Swedish provinces of Sweden, province of Scania, across the Øresund, Öresund strait from Copenhagen. The town had 91,940 inhabitants out of a municipal total of 121,510 . It is the seat of Lund Municipality, Scania County.
