Fallt Mit Danken, Fallt Mit Loben, BWV 248 IV
(Fall with thanks, fall with praise), BWV 248IV (also written as BWV 248 IV), is a Christmas cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in 1734 as PartIV of his six-part ''Christmas Oratorio''. Each part of the oratorio is a cantata, written for performance on one of the feast days of the Christmas period. ''Fallt mit Danken, fallt mit Loben'' is meant for the New Year's Day feast of the circumcision and naming of Jesus. Based on a libretto by an unknown author, it tells the naming of Jesus from the Nativity of Jesus, according to the Gospel of Luke. Bach structured the cantata in seven movements, and scored it for three vocal soloists, a four-part choir, and a festive Baroque orchestra with horns, oboes and strings. The opening chorus and the two arias are based on his earlier secular cantata , composed for the 11th birthday of the crown prince of Saxony on 5September 1733. Johann Sebastian Bach (28 July 1750) was a German composer and musician of the late Baroque period. He is known for his orchestral music such as the '' Brandenburg Concertos''; instrumental compositions such as the Cello Suites; keyboard works such as the ''Goldberg Variations'' and ''The Well-Tempered Clavier''; organ works such as the '' Schubler Chorales'' and the Toccata and Fugue in D minor; and vocal music such as the ''St Matthew Passion'' and the Mass in B minor. A tenor is a type of classical music, classical male singing human voice, voice whose vocal range lies between the countertenor and baritone voice types. It is the highest male chest voice type.
